Mercedes motorsport director Norbert Haug has poured cold water over suggestions that McLaren could make a move for newly-crowned World Champion Jenson Button.

British papers reported on Friday that McLaren, backed by sponsor Vodafone, were keen on signing Button so that he could team up with fellow Brit Lewis Hamilton.

However, Haug has dismissed the speculation as nothing but a pipe dream.

"There are no current negotiations with Jenson Button but I do have understanding for the fact that people in England are dreaming of an English team with two World Champions in the cockpits," Haug told German Press Agency dpa.

"However, dreams don't always come true."

Hamilton grabbed an absolutely magnificent pole, best ive evr seen since schumacher.......

pinkmichk 01-11-2009 03:01 PM

good race today although obviously gutted hamilton had to retire cos he was set for a fantastic race i got home at half 12 from (a rather wet and muddy) santapod so was able to see all the race
before it was like a lets see how many celeb friend eddie has i'm starting to not like him as a commentator he is starting to bug me a lot i really just wanna slap him
only 133 days til bahrain and we still dont know where most drivers are going

Iceman 01-11-2009 06:06 PM

I reckon by the end of next week we shall know a good few!

Vettel was perfect today and Kobayashi impresses once again!

pinkmichk 01-11-2009 08:57 PM

Iceman 01-11-2009 09:22 PM

Am extremely excited that Senna got a drive, hopefully he'll pull the finger out and not be so cocky....

Wildcat! 01-11-2009 09:25 PM

I couldnt stand Ayrton Senna. I mean, I know he is a legend and everything, but he was over rated imo, and a very dirty driver.
Alain Prost was a lot better.

Iceman 01-11-2009 09:31 PM

cant wait until next season when normality is restored and button ****s back off into obscurity...

pinkmichk 01-11-2009 09:37 PM

It is a Bernie Idea, I think it's gonna be good, they'll all be as equal as possible, they will still have to pit for tyres though....

Have to give Bernie props for this circuit though it's just amazing!

pinkmichk 02-11-2009 08:36 AM

yeah this circuit is prob the only decent thing that has come from him
i just read on twitter that bridgestone wont be supplying tyres after 2010

pinkmichk 02-11-2009 10:53 AM

the first of the driver seat updates we have been waiting on (sadly not a kimi update yet)
Williams confirm Barrichello and Hulkenburg as 2010 driver line up

toyota news
Quote:

It is being reported that Toyota have set November 8th as the day they will announce the future of the team. Previously it had been believed that the team would wait until their board meeting in mid November before any announcements would be made, however for whatever reason this has now been brought forward.

The future of the team has been in question for many weeks, with the team under performing throughout the tail end of the season. Toyota wouldn’t be the first casualty either of the big car manufacturer pull outs from Formula 1, with Honda and BMW already out of the game due to the world financial crisis.

Current drivers are also unconfirmed for 2010 seats, with Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli seemingly about to fly the nest, with the Toyota team looking for fresh blood such as the promising Kamui Kobayashi. Team boss John Howett has been positive however, keen to sign new drivers – even looking at the expensive Kimi Raikkonen.

If Toyota were to leave the sport this would free up a space on the grid for another team, which would work out quite nicely for the ex BMW Sauber team, who currently have new owners, but no grid places in 2010.

Update 03/11/09 19:15

It is being reported by Japanese newspaper Mainichi Daily News that the Toyota board have decided to pull out of Formula 1. More soon.

Hopefully no refueling stops will mean better racing on track rather than teams trying to gain places during the stops.

Iceman 03-11-2009 10:38 PM

Oh no Toyota leaving, they finally upped there game this year, what a shame, looks like there will only be 24 cars now, not as many as hoped for (unless new teams can be brought in)

pinkmichk 05-11-2009 04:51 PM

i also read somewhere but cant find link cos was on twitter on my phone that apparently renault are also considering pulling out

Iceman 10-11-2009 11:47 PM

loads of people now saying Kimi is just about to sign for Mclaren any day now.....

also one source said he'd make more money out of F1 than in it!

fingers crossed he stays....;)
