Blue ruin - 2014 - 9/10
a mysterious outsider life is turned upside down when he returns to his childhood home to carry out an act of vengeance. Proving himself an amateur assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family.
great movie. from beginning to end. story direction acting everything is good

A Promise - 6/10.

Richard Madden's new movie, also stars Alan Rickman and Rebecca Hall. Starts off very slow but once you get used to the pace it's actually a pretty good movie, reminds me a lot of Atonement and is also based off a novel just like that. Kind of strange that they have 3 British actors all playing German's but they pulled it off convincingly enough. All in all a very solid movie and a great performance from the best upcoming British actor.

Anchorman 2

A LOT better than I anticipated... and I watched it alone, too (my friends used to watch the first one all the time, we must have seen it about 20 times) The cameos got a little bit silly (what was the point of Drake? This reviewer asks) and some of the repeated jokes got a bit annoying (Champ's WHAMMY reel) but it actually made me laugh out loud a lot  8/10.

Salmon Fishing in the River Yemen

Amazing, Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt were fantastic and it was much better than I was expecting it to be, beautifully shot.

Bourne Identity

Yet another film I'd never seen before that I'd always meant to watch at some point. It was good!

way of the wicked - 2014 - 1/10

christin slater & vinnie jones. god this movie is bad. worst one ive seen this year with the piano 2nd worst

Ryan57 01-05-2014 11:30 AM

I Love You Beth Cooper - Torrid for the first half hour I found. Found it to get a bit better, but nothing great. 4/10.

The Dictator - Weakest out of the four Sacha Baron Cohen films for me. 4/10.

Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World - Not a patch on the fantastic first. Found it pretty crap for most of the film. Lot's of characters you hate. 3/10.

smeagol 01-05-2014 07:46 PM

I frankenstein - 2014 - 2/10

poor movie i was bored all the way through it. then it ended making me think what a waste of time , after the brilllaint blue ruin movie ive watched 3 of the worst ive seen this year in a row. this is one of them. bad

The Hangover Part III - 3/10

Just a bit flat really. The first one is really good and I don't think I've even seen the second one, but this one was quite poor. Has a few funny moments but the plot was a bit crap and yeah.. A bit of an insult to the first movie.

This is the End - 7/10

As far as comedies go I found this near perfect, laughed out loud quite a few times. "It's too late for you, you're already in the hole" was the best part.

Taken 2 - 5/10

Good action movie but again nowhere near the original. It was good having Maggie Grace, the daughter, do more than just be kidnapped though, it would have just been really tiring if they went down that route.

Noah

It was very religious, it seemed like it was word for word from the bible. I thought it was gonna be very different, something more real 5/10

One of the best movies I've watched this year, all the more amazing the fact that it's true 9/10

Divergent

Not as good as the Hunger Games, anyway the world is interesting and the action is pretty good. Shailene Woodley does well in the lead role, I kinda expected her to be better though 7/10

The Love Punch
http://i.imgur.com/2Crczj9.jpg
The cast was wonderful and I think it was a farce type of movie, and that's one of my least fave type of comedies. It was ok at times 4/10

The Art of the Steal
http://i.imgur.com/qXUCGq0.jpg
I'm watching this at the moment, about an hour in, the plot is kinda dizzying, still it's entertaining 6/10

DrunkerThanMoses 03-05-2014 05:00 AM

Splintered (2010) - Just found it incredible boring and predictable horror - 1/5

Heretic (2012) - Not a bad horror film, had potential to be better - 2/5

The Eye 2 (2004) - Actually really enjoyed it as much as the first one, very creepy in parts and the twist was interesting. Not sure if it had anything to do with the eyes though - 4/5

My Little Eye (2002)

This was kind of re-watch, I saw this movies on TV years ago, I stay up watching, I didn't remember much from it, I know that fell sleep in some places.

I saw this DVD in shop for 75p, so what the hell, So gave it another shot, I was hoping I would not fall a sleep, which very hard not too.

As movie was far to mess, from annoying, unlikable people in the movie, you could not care less.

I found this movie drag for to long, with nothing really happen in this movie for first hour!

Then when things start to happen, they were kind of bland, the acting was very weak from most of the cast.

I just found the whole movie really messy!

2 out of 10

Open Water (2003)

I finally got to see this movie and brought long with Adrift, for £1

it wasn't really horror movie but it was thriller!

I didn't expect a low budget movie, First scenes really look that good, looked bit cheap.

it was very slow pace in parts, that didn't bother me at all , I liked some tense start of the movie

Then they drag it a little to long and then end up losing the tense feeling from the movie.

Then with guys out burst, which I thought was very funny, I could not take seriously at all.

What bother me more was acting from lead actors, were very wooded, I just could not get warm to them.

Thought the story was good but acting and pacing of the movie were poor!

I give this movie 4 out of 10

Mr. Jones (2013) - I need to give it a re-wactch , not really sure what the hell was going on (In a good way)

Adrift (2006) what a load of rubbish!

Well ok I admit I never read any of the bible  so I just presumed it was taken from it. Things like Adam & Eve are shown as being real, but it never explains if they only had two or three sons and one killed the other (or something), but it never explains how more people come from them, like how the hell did they have kids.

But yea at times it felt a bit like lord of the rings, I just presumed it was all from the bible.

I expected it to be something like Take Shelter, where the truth of the person's visions are unknown to be real or some type of insanity. It just seems that in Noah the fact that the god is accepted as being real from the start, it kinda left no mystery in the movie for me.

Anyway it's a good movie with good performances, just not what I thought it was gonna be.

Pompei - 2014 - 1/10

The monuments men - 2014 - 5/10

corny american trash really with a good cast and abit of humour hard to dislike it but its not very good.

Ryan57 03-05-2014 08:42 PM

My Girl - Anna Chlumsky was an excellent child actress. Pretty decent film. 7/10.

Z 04-05-2014 11:04 AM

I guess it's not really a film, it's a 3 part TV series that the BBC has started airing but each episode is an hour and a half long so it did feel like watching a film... I watched Part 1 last night, I'm going to watch Part 2 tonight, I'm not sure when Part 3 will be available on iPlayer as I'm not sure when they're being aired...

Anyway, Generation War: Our Mothers, Our Fathers is brilliant, it's a story of 5 friends in World War II Germany and it shows them celebrating their last night together before 2 of them go off to be soldiers on the front line, one of them is off to be a nurse, and the other two are a couple - he's Jewish and she's an aspiring singer and it documents how the war impacts on all of them and affects their friendships and relationships with one another... very gripping stuff. It's in German but there are subtitles. Would really recommend it!

Underworld Awakening.

Piss poor film, not that I expected much from it mind.

2/10.

Ryan57 05-05-2014 04:50 PM

Diana - 1/10. Dire, boring, film. Felt like a poor man's Notting Hill. Lot's of unrealistic moments.

Is that an actual question or a reference to something ?

'Mean Girls' is a classic about errrr..... mean girls, starring Lindsay Lohan (she's not mean though. She's the mean girls' target and nemesis.)
