People using Covid as a landmark for things. ‘I tried for [this-and-that] before Covid but it didn’t work. Let’s see if I get lucky now.’

I kind of relate to this. People talk about coming up under COVID as though it were like living in the shadow of 9/11 with the war on terror, and Afghanistan raging and whatnot. The latter is something I can identify with. But idk, I just don't feel any real connection to people who talk about COVID in those terms. Not even necessarily saying they're wrong to do so, but for me COVID wasn't something that ever reached the level of cultural zeitgeist. Owing to being furloughed and not particularly minding staying indoors more, for me it was just something annoying happening in the background that you kind of just had to deal with.

The pandemic was a real blessing for a lot of introverts, too (those of us who thankfully didn’t lose loved ones to Covid anyway). More time and space to do what we do best (think and introspect, review the social connections we do cultivate and the depth of them, solitary hobbies like writing and baking banana-bread). That plus the fact that the year right before Covid, 2019, was among the worst of my life. Nothing throughout most of the first 3/4 of 2020 was that bad, and when it was it was for reasons that had sod-all to do with Covid.

People using Covid as a topic to try and make themselves seem more mature to other people, even when it doesn't naturally fit the discussion.

I'm not aiming that at you Redway btw, it's just you mentioning Covid made me think of people like that.

Chart Music being absolutely dire in general these days.

Anime Music also being pretty bad in general recently too, although my Brother doesn't agree with me on that one as much.

I feel like that’s been the case most years since 2012. Afrobeats is the genre that’s kept on giving in the past 8 years. Other genres not as much.

I was thinking 2012 was the last time that the chart Music scene was decent.

I wish that I had've appreciated it more at the time.

I personally was including 2012 when I said “since”. The start to the year was a dead-end in terms of decent pop and R&B and Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been” track was so bad it isn’t even a song.

2012 did have some decent numbers still imo.

Songs like Take Me To Church, Gangnam Style, Hall Of Fame, and speaking of Rihanna she did release Diamonds in that year.

I agree that it's not the greatest year for chart Music, but it's a damn sight better than any of the years in the 2020's imo.

I joke (but I'm also half serious) when I say that you get better Music from Eurovision nowadays.

And obviously searching for less known artists on YouTube.

1. The fact that so-many people don’t seem to be aware of the link between alcoholism and mental illness. It’s inevitable that someone like Phil Mitchell would develop a depressive illness eventually off the back of all-that, whether he’s a thug or not. That wasn’t even who Phil was before 2000.

2. https://youtu.be/c-EUR4E33G4?si=K7AB3_Zf0BK-XQl_ | https://youtu.be/hgO_6Oni-RA?si=2sNxMHs9ryPQvZss | https://youtu.be/fwI63rMfKNs?si=3AUlFarspEEVcBso | https://www.youtube.com/live/5W377hl...-oTwqf3ogsmPSN

^ the fact that America and Canada are light years ahead of the U.K. when it comes to using ketamine and psychedelics medicinally for mental health conditions. The British Isles (although ketamine’s offered for treatment-resistant depression privately, still) still has a very backwards approach to these things and thinks that all your non-clinical problems can be solved with a good-ol. pint or glass of white. Any and every situation seems to call for a drink.

We like alcohol too, too, too much in this part of the world. It’s the furthest thing from a healthy coping mechanism.

What is it with Hollyweird trying to normalise incest now? Eek first my fault film now mother of the bride? Ew. They tried to normalise pedophilia didn't work now this nonsense.

DHL was supposed to deliver something by 12pm yesterday. By 3 it hadn't gotten there and tracker said it was running later. By 6 it said that it was supposedly delivered and signed by me but it wasn't. I was furious! Called customer service and they said they probably clicked delivered by mistake and that it would be on its way today! Today! Driver said he supposedly lost the package!!!!!!!!!! Now we'll wait for tomorrow to see if he will find it!!!!!!!! How the bloody heck do you lose a package!!!!!!!!

If you call them and tell them just how many exclamation marks you have used in the above post I am sure that will get the ball rolling

ENTPs’ endless love of debate. Not everything needs to be tribunal-screened, like a for-and-against argument-question in a GCSE paper worth 8 or 16 marks. Sometimes just go with the flow. Not everything’s an argument.

Redway 12-03-2025 12:18 AM

Ross Barton’s (Emmerdale) dumbness is frustrating to watch. That, too.

I never thought that I would say this because both are disgusting imo.

But thank god that they changed it to Incest.

Because under no circumstances should we be seeing Pedophilia being celebrated.

I can agree with this.

People presuming to put your name forward for a task to perform at work.

Don't speak for me, you jackass. What a pisstake.

Redway 12-03-2025 04:13 PM

Incels (of all ages) and their weirdness.

It is pretty annoying in-general, t.b.f., when other people speak for you without knowing the full context.

It's a sad day on earth when these are the choices

Have you ever seen the tweets in this particular YouTube video?:umm2:

In particular the 5:25 mark, the 7:15 mark, 7:32 mark, 7:58 mark, 8:54 mark, and the 9:06 mark were the most objectionable tweets in the video imo.

Although the first 4 minutes aren't exactly lovable tweets either tbh.
