I'm never here for Daleks appearing in episodes where they have no relevance to the plot. It must be to fill some sort of quota and by the looks of things, it's the lasf time we'll see them whilst Moffat is in charge.

Marsh. 15-04-2017 10:22 PM

Here for this being a worthy sequel to the Tennant/Tate year. :clap1:

Shame Capaldi/Mackie will only get one too.

Marsh. 15-04-2017 10:23 PM

Not John Simm.

Marsh. 15-04-2017 10:24 PM

Ok, HERE FOR IT.

Rob! 15-04-2017 10:32 PM

So..

Was the whole doctor in the photograph of Bill's mum supposed to be relevant?
The alien voice in the puddle?

And why the **** is Matt Lucas still there? He's not been an interesting character since he was introduced!

She was also that one from Martha's season with all those kittens (and a talking cat for a husband but enough about that) x

I assume we're going to find out later on that the Doctor went back in time and took pictures of Bill's mum because she never had any etc etc

I didn't even notice the Doctor in the photographs.

Oh and she was also Mrs Cratchit in Dickensian for those who care (i.e. Lostie)

Not Bill's mum posing for pervy old men.

Marsh. 15-04-2017 10:49 PM

Did we actually see the Doctor?

Is it possible we get an episode like Father's Day from series 1 and Bill herself takes the photos?

It was definitely him

He was in the reflection of the mirror behind her. Knowing Moffat it'll probably transpire that Nardole is her mother or some ****

From the sounds of it Matt Lucas is there simply because he wants to be and not because Moffat wrote him in. :bored:

Pete. 15-04-2017 10:52 PM

The Daleks have to appear once a year btw, it's a BBC quota

Marsh. 15-04-2017 10:54 PM

Messy quota.

Is it that daft thing where the contract for using them means they have to be used once a year?

Okay now I'm pining for Dickensian again, thanks lot

(still haven't watched this or the Christmas episode oops)

Marsh. 15-04-2017 11:01 PM

That's going on Lostie's tombstone "I still haven't seen the Doctor Who Christmas episode oop".

It was probably weaved into the rights back when it relaunched. It's the only possible reason for their random appearances in Waters of Mars and Bill's announcement

Oh what on earth happened there

Lostie! 15-04-2017 11:10 PM

Try to mock me at your peril

Ross. 15-04-2017 11:10 PM

Bill is a great addition already :clap1:

Marsh. 15-04-2017 11:25 PM

Ross jumping on the bandwagon. :idc:

Ashley. 15-04-2017 11:31 PM

Well I thought she was good too!

Marsh. 15-04-2017 11:34 PM

Sheep!!!

Ashley. 15-04-2017 11:35 PM

I was sort of surprised at the simplicity of the plot given that Steven Moffat wrote the episode... but then I realised that the point of the episode was probably to showcase diversity within the show given that the entire plot was based around a lesbian relationship.

Marsh. 15-04-2017 11:41 PM

Bill got Heather wet lad.

Welcome to my gracious drawing room.

Scarlett. 16-04-2017 12:21 AM

Great start to the new series, I still really really like Nardole, and Bill might turn out to be good after all!

Back in 2004, when RTD relaunched Doctor Who, they had trouble getting the rights to the Daleks from Terry Nation's estate. When "Dalek" was written for Series 1, they also had an alternative story ready to go incase they couldn't get the rights. The aliens in the alternative script were later adapted and went on to become the Toclafane in Series 3.

It is a bit silly having to include the Daleks at least once a year. Sometimes they just don't fit! It's nice that they haven't been the central point of the finale episodes for the last couple of years.

Denver 16-04-2017 02:33 PM

Got 4.6 million viewers which is slightly up on the last series

MB. 16-04-2017 02:44 PM

Not bad for an overnight on Easter Saturday

Denver 16-04-2017 06:52 PM

Rumours that Kris Marshall is the next Doctor and has already filmed his 1st scenes
