Thanks for that. Same old crap, by its looks, then, eh?

You'd think they'd be bored of babies and pregnancies. FGS, at this rate Sharon will come back pregnant.

Yeah. People can criticise the Louise Berridge days 2002-2004 but I don't care. 2002 was excellent, 2003 was very good and whilst 2004 may not have been amazing, there was plenty to enjoy, good characters and at least it was watchable. It was just those awful, awful Ferrairas, who really dragged the year down. Still, it was ten times better than 2011-2012.

I'm not too keen on either of them, really. I reckon the show just needs a massive revamp.

Yeah. I actually do wonder whether Elstree Studios are just taking the piss and deliberately serving out nonsense or genuinelly think the audience wants to see the same storylines being repeated over and over and over again. I really do.

I'm enjoying Roxie and Alfie close friendship. I want them to get together!

I really like Abi and Jay, best teens IMO. I cannot stand the overrated Lauren and think Jacqueline Jossa is overrated too and new Lucy does my head in.

Whitney could be redeemed if they got rid of Tyler and gave her a storyline that is not to do with men...

bbfan1991 27-04-2012 07:32 PM

Poor Bianca tonight:(, her desperation was sad and Patsy Palmer was brilliant in this special episode.

I am glad B and her mother Carol made up and felt sorry for her kids too.

Marsh. 27-04-2012 07:56 PM

Terrible episode. The performances were good but the storyline doesn't ring true at all.
Walford have obviously never heard of any kind of benefits system or tax credits.

And then at the end it was revealed she owed something like £1,000. The way they've been going on it was like she was in fear of losing everything and owed thousands. Couldn't afford a tin of beans to feed the kids etc yet she bought a TV and all the other crap which could easily be cashed in.
Or Carol could ask one of many brothers to help out who seem to be running businesses with no problem.
Or Ricky, who apparently has stopped sending money for the kids which is odd.
Then she nicks money on her own doorstep where everyone knows who she is. lol

Just really bad writing all round. Probably written by someone rich who hasn't the first clue about the working class.

Redway 27-04-2012 08:42 PM

Simply dreadful episode. I actually don't even know what happened - it was all bull. Thankfully, Kirkwood's nearly out now, but it's not fair on us viewers. Talk to anyone and they will tell you it's been crap since the aftermath of the live and whilst I think people are unnecessarily harsh on 2010, 2011-present has been simply inexcusable. We deserve episodes were things actually happen.

By the way, does anyone know where Callum is? He hasn't been active for about five weeks now. :suspect:

waterhog 27-04-2012 10:53 PM

i will be complaining again tonight - it is dyer.

Me. I Am Salman 28-04-2012 12:16 PM

I don't understand why people are complaining about yesterday's episode because of how "unrealistic" it was.

EastEnders is not meant to be completely realistic fgs. And it never has been. The fact that there's murders every year on the Square, Dirty Den coming back from "dead" a couple of years ago etc - none of it would happen in real life. So I don't know why people are saying it's just nowadays where EastEnders is unrealistic and blaming the current writers, especially something so minor like the whole situation with Bianca.

If it was 100% realistic like everyone wants it to be then the show would be boring as **** and you know it. Of course Bianca could have seeked benefits or something - but why would the viewers want to watch that? It's a soap you know.. it's meant to be gripping.. which it was. I thought it was a fantastic episode. So cut the writers some slack, gosh, it's like people are never satisfied

Me. I Am Salman 28-04-2012 12:19 PM

And if WATERHOG says "dyer" again in another of his illiterate posts, I'm just going to smash my screen up

Marsh. 28-04-2012 12:25 PM

If it entertained me and "gripped" me I may have been more lenient but it wasn't either for me.

If they'd skirted over the benefits thing by having her in 20 grand of debt or something it would be a tad more believable.

But the fact that they've said they're completely penniless, when 4 of them have jobs is just plain stupidity. Changing a character to suit the plat (Ie. Ricky's not bothering to pay child support apparently even though he went off to earn big money in Dubai and yet came back with nothing).
They have a family of men owning their own businesses who would help out and offer money but she's too proud to ask and yet she'll beg Janine (the Scrooge of the story).

Just because it's not real doesn't mean they can just make up whatever crap they want and we should buy it. If they'd even attempted to make it believable it wouldn't matter.

Even without bringing benefits into it, she was only in £1,000 debt. She was acting as though she was going to die from it and was in thousands upon thousands of debt.

Me. I Am Salman 28-04-2012 12:49 PM

But why on earth would she even be in £20K debt lmao it's Bianca, that wouldn't be very realistic would it.

She didn't ask Max because as she said he's got a lot on his plate with Tanya. And she didn't ask Derek because he'll just worm his way into the family and she'd rather go penniless than have someone as troublesome & manipulating as Derek in near her kids, which is understandable. So she went to Janine because she presumed it'd not be much of a problem and she wouldn't make a fuss as £1000 is nothing for Janine what with the fact that she's loaded.

Anyway I thought it was an amazing episode and from what I've read on Twitter a lot of people were emotional (lol) so the writers were successful in making a good episode. Of course some people will pick out tiny flaws but that doesn't matter when I'm sure the majority of viewers were pleased with it.

Redway 28-04-2012 12:51 PM

Are you aiming that at me, Salman?

Me. I Am Salman 28-04-2012 12:55 PM

No I'm not aiming it at anyone I'm just saying in general people should cut the writers some slack.

Kazanne 28-04-2012 12:58 PM

I love Eastenders and imo is far more believable than the sham 'Bohemiam Rhapsody'given out by Coronation street,i mean is that the best they can do,lol,EE last night was thought provoking, well acted and showed us the mean side of life, and as for the baby stories, they happen in real life too,way better than any other soap imo,and why just moan about it,just turn off if it's not your cup of tea, simples!

Well, personally, I found it very dull and contrived - this sort of emotional thing has been overdone so much lately that I just don't care who cries or not anymore.
