The murder of a homeless gypsy, Claudia Goth, had been executed in such an obscene and overwhelmingly brutal manner that the police force constructed a task force of 17 members - some of the world's finest criminal detectives and psychologists - to hunt the man, or woman, down. A string of other murders in a similar fashion were possibly connected, too: the Killer's trademark was to strike at 2am and to leave absolutely no trace. An audio file was sent via email to the chief of Police and featured an edited voice boasting proudly about their crimes.

Joan and Tina approached their separate taxis in long, black coats. They'd only been involved in the case for a couple of days and an opportunity was presented to both of them by a mystery figure: to find something out about the killer. They exchanged concerned glances before stepping into the back of the cab, and Tina was sure she saw a smirk at the end of it.

Joan Ferris' career as a policewoman was often fraught with drama. At the age of 27 she'd been shot in an attempt to talk down an armed robber, and after a long and gruelling recovery found herself in a similar fate just four years later. She figured now, however, that any case could mean life or death, and she was willing to find this sick bastard.
Ferris was taken to a disused hospital on the lower west side of the city.

The night was calm and quiet, and the thin crescent of the moon shone hardly a smidgen of light around Joan's feet. Clutching her flashlight, she opened the front doors and began her search.

The air was heavy and Joan's breath hung in front of her in icy wisps. She pulled her scarf tighter and wrapped it warmly around her neck.

I didn't think you had such a bitchy comment in you Dylan, so I just guessed Sam thinking he was being ironic, lol.

And I felt like being bitchy, there are so many bitchy people in the game I thought it wouldn't raise much suspicion :joker:

Tina, meanwhile, arrived at a picturesque hotel at the foot of the mountains.

The hotel, closed for the winter season, gave Tina strong The Shining vibes and thoughts of rivers of blood and creepy twins creeped into her subconscious. 38 years old, Tina was fairly headstrong and had experienced her fair share of harrowing crimes, and this, coupled with the overall prettiness of her Isolation location, gave her an optimistic outlook.

She turned on a switch that lit the hallway's lights up one by one, each flash introducing her to a new room and a new potential clue. She chose to walk down and enter the first door on the right, quite unaware of the creaking floorboards further down the hall.

Entering what appeared to once have been a waiting room, Joan approached a desk and looked around for any trace of paperwork that may contain something useful. She saw a bell and some pens, but most of the forms she could find were torn up or covered in dust. She turned to check the notice board behind her when her scarf yanked on something from behind the desk. She turned around and suddenly felt an almighty blow to her nose, sending her crashing to the floor.

The attacker threw Joan back down as she tried to aim a kick at their stomach, and she banged her head on the cold, metal filing cabinet behind her. Desperately, she tried scrambling for blunt objects to defend herself with, but the Killer had already wrapped their hands around her neck. Pulling tighter and tighter, she felt what was once comforting wool become choking wire, and her eyes began to bulge. Her body convulsed a little as she helplessly tried to find a weapon, but with a sad and final thud, her arms fell to the floor and she could move no more.

Tina's luck was greatly received, as the first bedroom suite she entered displayed a welcome brown envelope on the double bed in the centre of the room. She opened it with relief, and all that the clue contained was a large, red letter on a post-it note: the letter X.
Tina pocketed the note and ran back outside, straight into the waiting taxi.

Detectives, now that Tina's given you your first clue to the alias of the Killer, I must now inform you of a sad little twist the Killer's taken. Earlier this week, I asked your late team leader to assign all of you a number from one to seventeen, promising you that for one of you, this wouldn't be a sweet sixteenth. However, the detective given the #16 placing... well, killing them off would be too easy. Instead, the Killer was given the luck of the draw, and I can now reveal that any of you could now face Sudden Death. Before the lineup was announced, a certain number was decided to be unlucky. Let's find out which number that is.
