About time

arista 06-07-2021 01:29 PM

[Priti Patel has said a new immigration bill
will “break the business model” of people
trafficking gangs facilitating illegal crossings into the UK.
The home secretary said the new legislation
was aimed at “addressing our broken asylum system”
and taking action “in a way that we have been
unable to take action in the past because of
our membership of the European Union”.
The Nationality and Borders bill, which will be
unveiled in parliament today,
will allow migrant boats to be sent back to
France and asylum seekers who land
in Britain illegally to be arrested.

For the first time the way in which a
person arrives - legally or illegally - will have a
bearing on whether their asylum
application is accepted.
Prison sentences will also be increased
for people who enter the UK without
permission from six months to four years,
and a maximum of life imprisonment for
convicted people smugglers will be introduced.]

They can be sent back to France, but because we're no longer in the EU, France has no responsibility to take them. I guess sending them back into the sea to die is compassionate conservatism in action again.

British people cheering this on is honestly gross. 4 years in prison for potentially fleeing a war-zone most likely created by us or the US.

so sad these people have been hoodwinked by traffickers promising an easy life. It just about greed. We must target these foreign criminals to protect those who are hoodwinked and get them back to their own countries who need them.

Lets hope petty France can work with us and not be nasty and bitter as they have been

France will double the number of police patrolling its beaches as part of a deal with the UK to stem the number of migrants crossing the English Channel.

The UK will pay more than £54m as part of the deal agreed between ministers in London and Paris.

The Home Office said the two countries would also improve intelligence sharing and use better technology to target those who organise the crossings.
