It's not required though, the UK doesn't elect prime ministers so he's as valid as any other.

We elect parties and support can be down to the leader. We haven't had the opportunity to elect the conservatives under Boris.

but as it seems now it's just wait until the general election comes, and i think there is a slight chance we might get a new PM but i'm not sure
