Corrie seems to be one of the only soaps that can have that really funny spark to it, it just doesn't work with EastEnders. EastEnders is really depressing, rofl! xD

Scarlett. 02-11-2007 12:22 AM

Wow! I thought you where a fan of EE? changed your mind? :D

Like a simple wink had me in stitches, Norris and Doreen are gonna be great!!!:hello:

cepb 02-11-2007 12:23 AM

Dizzy and Chewy : spot on!

We should start and anti-Eastenders campaign on TiBB.

So do either of you know why Eastenders is so damn popular? It just doesn't make sense. EE just bores the hell out of me.

Scarlett. 02-11-2007 12:24 AM

I know, I gave it a try a few weeks back, for the first few mins it was good but then... it repeated, person yells..person crys...person drinks...person shouts...person shouts

Cfan 02-11-2007 12:25 AM

I've also noticed that there are always lil amusing subtlties in the background of shots which make me laugh like the other day I noticed Liz blowing a load of smoke into Vernon's face when the camera was focusing on the Websters.

Anno I watched it for 2 years actually, and I did enjoy the Jony Allen, and Chrissie storylines a lot, even though I never thought it was as good as Corrie.

But in the end I felt that all the storylines were boring, generic, depressing, pretentious....and I just found myself sitting there watching it bored out of my brains.

So I made a decision to stop watching it.

LoL I noticed that. It was about a year ago. I laughed and then rewound the tape twice, sad, anno. :P

Cfan 02-11-2007 12:28 AM

LoL, you're never gonna get EE off the air, it aint gonna happen. Some people love being depressed.

I missed that, its like teachers was, with funny stuff in the background, except not as out-of-this-world

I watched the Johnny one where Phil and Grant went to "geddim" it was "dim" with out the "ged",

cepb 02-11-2007 12:29 AM

Aye anno, depression seems to be the attraction.

There are some sad ppl.

EastEnders is popular, because I'm guessing loads of people like that sort of thing.
See, most people are really familiar with the storylines but the thing is EE never really has any light hearted moments, and when they try, they fail miserably. Plus EE has been going on for years, and Corrie has too but EE is much darker, and more people might've grown up watching EE rather than Corrie, either that or they just enjoy something a lot darker and less light hearted?

Scarlett. 02-11-2007 12:30 AM

One thing I notice the songs in the jukebox sometimes relate to the story on Corrie

Aye sounds right, Corrie has been going 47 years, so it wont ever finish, which is good

I saw a bit where Phil fell into a cake at Bens birthday party, it was supposed to be funny, but I found it more sad than funny

Coronation Street has been going since 1960 and Eastenders since 1986. But I agree with what you're saying. I just find Corrie more entertaining and I think some people should give it a chance. I think most ppl would actually prefer it to EE if they actually sat down and made an effort to get into it.

cepb 02-11-2007 12:34 AM

And LMAO Cfan!

Scarlett. 02-11-2007 12:35 AM

They just make assumptions that since it was watched by peoples grandmothers (and still is) that its gonna be boring but its fun watching the day to day lives of the residents (even Vernon in the background)

I think the problem is for many people the general image of the show is a load of old biddies, gossiping in a pub.

cepb 02-11-2007 12:36 AM

This thread is turning into EE discussion. ??

And gosh, 34 pages: impressive!

Scarlett. 02-11-2007 12:36 AM

Nah its just becoming a fully blown discussion, tomorrow when we get Corrie news it will be all about Corrie again (34 pages WOW!!)

Which sometimes it is, but I dont think Blanche is the sort of old biddy they imagine

cepb 02-11-2007 12:37 AM

LoL I can't wait untill the Winter previews, but I won't look at any of them.
