First guy to retire that I watched from the start and grew up with.

Very emotional.

Yeah:D, fed up of waiting for who it is now..

Watched a video of Chris Jericho on DTWS:), he's very good.

arsenalforever 12-04-2011 06:12 PM

The Miz- Will he take over Cena as WWE's number 1 guy

He's got the Cool theme song

He's got the Cathphase

He's been champion for 5 months now. Yes he's not great in the ring (either was Cena a few years back). I think he's on his way to becoming the main guy.

Stu 12-04-2011 06:18 PM

Not a chance. It will simply never happen. He will transform into a face by Summerslam and eventually find his spot at the top of the midcard. I would be surprised if he ever won the title again, nevermind take over from a guy he couldn't possibly cross over into the mainstream or sell as much merchandise as.

Ramsay 12-04-2011 06:24 PM

appearantly all of wwe are very high on him atm so i wouldnt be surprised

They are doing a good job with him and he's got the charmisa. I think he's not ready yet in ring skills but he's certainly over with the crowd

Stu 12-04-2011 08:13 PM

They're doing desperate with him. Until a few weeks ago he was getting the snot beat out of him every week. I like the guy but people aren't buying him as champion. He has bombed at it by all accounts. It looks good because he is cutting kick ass promos on TV but most of his segments loose viewers in the quater hour breakdowns - save for the ones with Rock and Cena in them.

Shaun 12-04-2011 08:16 PM

I'm only a casual viewer but he always seems like a joke character to me...

Stu 12-04-2011 08:23 PM

His become the darling of the old guard who want to oust Cena and crown a new face of the company but he is only being held in such high regard because of the dearth of good, young talent who could potentially step up.

The lad wouldn't have got a look in years ago. He's probably be going around the arena garage with a dustbin lid waiting for Crash Holly to show up with his hardcore title.

The bloke is absoloutely harmless looking. White meat, Real World alumni and about as intimidating as a chicken drumstick. Not exactly a perfect fit to carry on the title legacy.

Novo 12-04-2011 09:26 PM

I have never really been a massive fan of Edge.. only the Brood & Rated R Era.. lately as a face he's terrible so not really bothered it will make the Main event scene on Smackdown more interesting as now they will need to push a few superstars.

Ramsay 12-04-2011 09:32 PM

i liked the brood reference he made haha

Novo 12-04-2011 09:37 PM

Yes without a doubt, they are teasing his face turn early as well.. Last night on Raw when JR offered his hand he shook it and the week after wrestlemania Cena was saying Miz deserves respect for beating him etc, Champion since November 22nd as well, he has overtook Shawn Michaels on Days he has held the title just in one single Reign the guy is the best thing WWE right now to be honest I'd have gave him the World Heavyweight Championship as well when Edge left last night... Make him the undisputed Champion.

They all love him, would be very surprised if he lost the title anytime soon

Stu 12-04-2011 09:50 PM

Shawn had it for eight months between March and November of 96. And at that he is a long way off from being the guy with the longest single reign.

I mean combined days, Shawn Michaels has 3 reigns = 140 days, Miz has just over 140 days now ( Think it was 140 days last night ) Maybe it's a Wiki **** up

Stu 12-04-2011 10:07 PM

Yeah, it's a wiki **** up. I have no idea how Shawn has less combined days when he had an eight month reign in 96 compared to Miz's current five month run.

Novo 12-04-2011 10:10 PM

Probably some Bret Hart fan who edited it then..

Stu 12-04-2011 10:15 PM

No I see where you went wrong now. The 140 days listed for Shawn is just for his Montreal reign that took him into Wrestlemania XIV. He also has, amongst others, a 231 day reign from Wrestlemania XII to Survivor Series 96 when SID beat him for it.

Quite a bit to go yet for The Miz. I believe he would call that a REALITY CHECK .

Stu 13-04-2011 08:21 AM

Yeah I marked for The Brood pop.

More crazy Vince from Figure 4's Newsletter :

Quote:

We noted last week the irony of "Wrestling" being removed from the company name on the weekend of WrestleMania, and in the past we've noted other terms that Vince McMahon finds undesirable. "Belt," for instance, is not allowed. Superstars do not win belts. They win championships. For a while he didn't even want the superstars to wear the championships around their waists, because, well, you wear a belt around your waist and this isn't your father's pro-rasslin where folks wear title belts.

This week we are going to look at a list of banned terms. Every now and then you'll hear "wrestling" uttered on WWE television, at which point some people will say this is proof that there aren't really any set rules about what you can and cannot say, and that perhaps people like Dave Meltzer and I are making this up. As a matter of fact, WWE has an information sheet that they send all over the world to folks who do international voice-overs in other countries, and it includes a list of "Incorrect Terminology," which is further identified as being incorrect via a bright red "X," and an accompanying list of "Correct Terminology," which is accompanied by a happy green check mark. The information sheet, titled, "The Language of WWE," reads in full:

The Language of WWE

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is a publicly traded entertainment company (NYSE: WWE) that creates and delivers a weekly action soap opera to its passionate fans.

WWE has been a recognized leader in entertainment for more than 25 years and has developed into one of the most popular and sophisticated forms of global entertainment today.

As a global entertainment brand, the language that we use when communicating on WWE is critical.

Please ensure that you are familiar and employing the below, effective immediately.

Let's take a look at these terms, shall we?

"Wrestling" or "Catch" is prohibited. Several European countries still use the 19th-century term "catch" to describe the art of pro-wrestling and "catchers" to describe wrestlers. Catch (as in "catch-as-catch-can") was a style of submission-based grappling practiced in Lancashire, England and later brought to the United States by immigrants in the mid-1800s. Many of the terms used up through the '90s, including "collar-and-elbow tie-up," have their roots in catch, and several MMA stars today, perhaps most notably Josh Barnett, claim their submission style is catch wrestling. "The Language of WWE" states that the following phrases are incorrect: "Wrestling is broadcast in 145 countries," or "Catch is broadcast in 145 countries." The correct terminology is: "WWE is broadcast in 145 countries."

"Sports" is incorrect. What is allowed is "Entertainment or Action Soap Opera." "Eg: WWE is exciting entertainment," or "WWE is an exciting action soap opera." It should be noted that "action soap opera" in the above example is also printed in bold, presumably to make sure that there is no confusion.

"Catchers or Wrestlers." Definitely banned. Incorrect examples are "Catchers are unique characters" or "Wrestlers are unique characters." You may only say "WWE Superstars." "Eg: WWE Superstars are unique characters." As is their Chairman.

"Athletes or Sportsmen." Banned. I will admit, I was surprised to learn that "athlete" is a banned term, if only because for years and years I have heard wrestlers and fans say, "It might be fake, but these guys are tremendous athletes." No longer can you say, for example, "WWE Superstars are brilliant athletes," or "WWE Superstars are brilliant sportsmen." Nope. You must call them, and I am not making this up, "Entertainers with tremendous athletic prowess." They even give an example: "WWE Superstars are entertainers with tremendous athletic prowess." What normal person in their right mind would ever utter a sentence such as that?

"Fight." Not allowed. You cannot say, "WWE's first fight of the night." You may say, "Match" or "Bout." "Eg: WWE's first match of the night" or "WWE's first bout of the night."

"Fighting." "The fighting was enthralling" is ixnayed. OK, however, is the term "action." "Eg: The action was enthralling."

The printout concludes with the following three "Key Soundbytes":

* WWE is pure entertainment

* WWE is an action soap opera

* WWE Superstars are entertainers with tremendous athletic prowess

Spoiler:

A major tribute to Edge took place after the SmackDown! taping in Albany, NY last night. I was there live and this was simply amazing to watch. Here is my report:

As SmackDown! ended, the entire WWE locker-room came out to the top of the stage as Edge stood in the ring. First, The Big Show came down the ramp and hugged Edge. He was then followed by Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio and Christian who was already in the ring. They all hugged him and shook hands. All of them were crying at this point. It should be noted that these were his best friends within WWE.

Triple H’s music then hit and he embraced in a long hug with Edge, at least two minutes without letting go. The other guys continued to hug as well, all crying. The rest of the SmackDown! roster stood on-stage clapping with some tearing up.

As the WWE locker-room headed to the back, Edge began to follow. The WWE locker-room stopped and signaled for him to get back in the ring and soak it up.

Edge then gave a long speech, thanking the crowd, WWE universe, truck drivers, ring crew, creative team, cameraman, announcers, catering. etc etc. He mentioned people by name (Brian (Gerwirtz), Vince, etc)

Edge said he is happy he got to say goodbye in Albany because it’s the place where he won his first championship. In fact it was in a cab in Albany where Edge came up with the nickname Edge.

Edge thanked Kane, saying he’d break kayfabe and would probably take some heat for that. He thanked Christian and Kane as his closest friends in the business and said he loved them to death.

Edge thanked Lita and said they’d had some great times together. He even joked to the fans that they needed to get their minds out of the gutter when it came to Lita “even though we really did do it.”

Edge said he was going home for a vacation and to spend time with his two dogs. The crowd laughed. He was very emotional during this promo.

There was a large “Hall of Fame” chant. He said he hoped to be in there one day and then said “I think I’m done… you’ve probably heard enough”. The crowd wanted more though.

Edge went and hugged his mother and then every single fan at ringside. Awesome way to end SmackDown! although none of this will air.

WWE cameras were filming this so it may end up on WWE.com. Take it from me as I was there live – this was very emotional.

WOW. Can't wait to see that.

Iceman 13-04-2011 12:11 PM

he has tons of respect for Lita doesnt he?

Ramsay 13-04-2011 02:53 PM
