Hundreds of mourners have gathered for the funeral of nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, who was killed in a mass stabbing at a dance class in Southport.

Her parents Sergio and Alexandra were joined by family and friends at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in the town.

Among those who also gathered to pay their respects were Serena Kennedy, Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, along with uniformed officers from the police and the ambulance and fire services.

Members of the public lined Marshside Road as the funeral cortege arrived, along with about 30 uniformed police officers.

Pink ribbons and balloons were tied to lampposts and garden walls.

Applause broke out as the carriage – drawn by two white horses sporting orange and white plumes – containing the youngster’s white coffin approached the church entrance.

Several hundred people packed into the church while more listened outside as the service was relayed on loudspeakers.

Alice, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, were all killed in the attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class on July 29.

Eight other children were injured in the attack and all have now been discharged from hospital to recover at home.

Yoga instructor who tried to save children in Southport rushed back to hospital…

A yoga teacher who was stabbed during the Southport knife attacks has been rushed back to hospital after her condition deteriorated, her family have said.

Former primary school teacher Leanne Lucas, 35, tried to protect the children in the Taylor Swift-themed dance class during an attack which left three young girls dead on 29 July.

Three children were killed and eight injured after a knifeman launched an attack at the dance studio in the Merseyside seaside town. She and a colleague are said to have helped shield up to 16 innocent children from the onslaught.

Ms Lucas has been readmitted to hospital due to breathing problems.

Posting to a GoFundMe page set up to support the instructor, a friend wrote: "Unfortunately this week Leanne was readmitted to hospital due [to] struggling with her breathing. She is waiting for an operation for another drain on her lung due to infection.”

…so much positive thoughts to her that she recovers soon from the infection…

Hope the monster who did this is having a rough time. Although I know he's not. He's being protected and that makes me feel physically ill.

What I hate is ,all the rioting & politics has basically overshadowed the fact that innocent children still lost their lives at the hands of this evil killer . Whole thing is like a dystopian depressing mess.

LT
this thread is about the stabbings.

No wonder your thread today got locked

AnnieK 17-10-2024 11:56 AM

I would imagine all that will come out during the trial.

Hopefully nothing will be reported that could compromise the case?

Ammi 17-10-2024 12:02 PM

…just what Annie said, the details will be at the trial whenever that’s scheduled for …legal representation for all, both defence and prosecution will have stressed that importance…I guess any details before then could possibly lead to a mistrial situation…
