Aw I've heard bad things. Not as good as the books. Which is the same as every film I guess!

nicole_burks 15-07-2011 02:23 PM

I saw it and loved it!
I didn't read the books though, but it was still amazing.

Jords 15-07-2011 02:30 PM

I want to see it :amazed:

Shaun 15-07-2011 04:23 PM

Am hopefully seeing it in an hour, but will have to be in 3D since the 2D sold out. :(

Barbie 15-07-2011 04:25 PM

Seeing it sunday, hoping the 2D is less popular, so im going to see the 2D. Shouldn't have to book in advance because its been 3 days since release, still going to be busy though!

CharlieO 15-07-2011 04:37 PM

The 3D was not good at all. Thankfully nothing was put in just for the sake of 3D which is like my pet peeve. 2D would have been far better.

But I welled up at a few parts and the way some complicated things were put across quickly in the film were done really quite well.

Its a good film but the first part is a little boring. Specific parts I didn't like the changes in:

Spoiler:

I didn't like the way Voldemort died outside and not in front of anyone and the whole speech Harry was supposed to make was left out. Also I didn't like the way Harry never fixed his own wand in the end.

Also I didn't like the way the Elder want was a physical wand in the movie where as in the book it transferred from wand to wand and was more like a presence.

Finally I think they didn't emphasise how sorry we were supposed to feel for Snape enough. They should have showed his good side for longer rather than that confusing flash back part which I personally don't think it would make sense to someone who had not read the book.

There were only 6 other people in the cinema though because every single screen in the place bar one was screening HP.

Barbie 15-07-2011 04:43 PM

Yeah from the trailers im not sure i like the change in where harry and voldermort have their fight.

Yea there is a weird bit when they jump of a bridge and it serves no point what so ever, just to 'look good'.

Stu 15-07-2011 04:52 PM

Spoiler:

They don't do the back and forth speech about love with Harry constantly calling him Tom? That's B.S. That was the best part of any of the books.

Vicky. 15-07-2011 05:04 PM

Spoiler:

3d was useless. Totally.

But the film itself

I was actually pathetically emotional and kept bursting into tears. Didnt help with it starting with a shot of dobbys grave, which got me last time round

I only did 3D for the glasses.
Spoiler:

I didn't cry though.. But a lot of people did.
You should have heard the people in the movie theatre though, especially when Mama Weasley fought Bellatrix. that was my favorite part. haha.

My sister who hadn't read the books burst out crying when you see Fred Wesley dead. I welled up at the end :/ It was like the offical ending of my childhood. :(

I was quite disappointed with freds death actually. Thought they could have made it sadder. Dobbys is still the worst for me :(

Spoiler:

Just got back from a 3D showing - am assuming the film was no different other than for some effects.

Only a few gripes:
- Fred/Lupin/Tonks - first of all, Fred was supposed to die whilst laughing with Percy. Where on earth was Percy!? It was just as if they thought "oh well we'd better include them"

- Weren't the giants supposed to be on Hogwarts' side? What with Hagrid's brother Grawp in amongst them.

- The entire battle scene was a bit disappointing. No Trelawney throwing crystal balls, no "good vs. evil" speech, no McGonagall vs. Voldemort. I did love the protective sphere and the statues though.

- Too many jokes that I'm not even sure were in the book (eg. when Luna explains the diadem and Ron does the usual  oh god lollllx)

However, I think the Snape bit was perfect. Just perfect. I was using all of my strength not to blub like a baby - it wasn't too melodramatic, it was just tragic and beautiful.

I wasn't convinced by the 19 years later part, they could have put on a bit of ageing makeup  but overall I really enjoyed the movie.

Beastie 15-07-2011 08:03 PM

Can't wait to see this. I hope to watch it in 2D and when it's not RAM PACKED.....

This. I live in between two cinemas. One is better than the other but the better one is only showing the film in 3D :nono: I am not paying 8 or 9 quid to watch it. Plus it's just as good in 2D!

3D is a load of bollocks!

rk3388 15-07-2011 08:22 PM

This was a rubbish movie.
the 3d made it suffer because it semmed like the background was blurry and the final battle was pathetic and it seemed like it was made to be 3d so u dont really know what happend.
It barely showed anyone get killed (1 or 2) so it wasnt sad whatsoever.
They didnt show a lot of things.
Todd wasnt even mentioned once( tonks and lupis son)
They focused too much on trying to make it funny
It was truely awful.
Good 3D glasses though :D

Callum 15-07-2011 08:28 PM

3D was pointless, clearly a way for WB to make more money from the film.

Spoiler:

The deaths I thought made much less impact in the films. Fred wasn't even mentioned to be dead which I thought was sad. I preferred how it was in the book. Oh and Remus mentioning about his son in the forest was a bit silly considering it was never mentioned in the film that he was going to have a child, Tonks began to in Part 1 but never finished her sentence.

InOne 15-07-2011 08:31 PM

Spoiler:

Saw it today and did really love it. The battle at hogwarts was good especially when they were all moving through it slow motion. And is my memory playing tricks on me or in Bellaxtrix's vault, I thought everything turned hot and the were getting burned and stuff? Dunno if that is just me. Loved the ghost part where all his loved one's came back, they got that spot on. And Snape's memory was great too. Also that bit where they carry Harry up was exactly how I imagined it in the books. Overall though, really good film and think it did justice as much as it could

Shaun 15-07-2011 08:35 PM

I think the item they went to the vault for (i can't even remember what the item was) turned hot, but everything else multiplied

Vicky. 15-07-2011 08:38 PM

Everything that multiplied was meant to be hot IIRC

Callum 15-07-2011 08:43 PM

Yes it was, they didn't show that at all, in the book they have burns from the heat.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'' sold a mind-boggling $43 million worth of tickets at 3,800 mostly sold-out midnight shows, Warner Bros. estimates today. That far eclipses the $30M midnight-show record set by "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.'' The Potter finale has an excellent shot at bettering the $158 million three-day record set by "The Dark Knight'' three years ago. The weekend's only other new release, Disney's "Winnie the Pooh,'' will be lucky to make $10 million, box office prognisticators say.
Amazing :amazed:

Niall 15-07-2011 08:57 PM

I saw this today and it was utterly fantastic. Everything about it was perfect.

Spoiler:

The ending was so lovely the way they were all seeing their kids off. By far the best film of the series and one of my favourite films ever now. I couldn't have imagined a better film. Its was amazing. :')

Glenn. 16-07-2011 12:38 AM

Just got back from seeing it

Spoiler:

I loved everything about this film. Definatley the best film of the series by far.
So many moments gave me goosebumps and a few moments made a little teary.

The statues coming to life and the 'Hogwarts is threatened' but gave me goosebumps, along with every battle sequence.

Snape's death and his memories made me weep a little. So much better than I imagined it would be. I noticed a few people in the cinema mopping their eyes after. They were obviously fans of the book.

The one thing I was slightly disppointed with was the King's Cross scene with Dumbledore. I don't think it fitted with the rest of film, and nothing was really divulged between them, not even a mention of the Deathly Hallows, which after all was the name of the film. I just felt in an odd way, it didn't really fit with the film, which is a shame, because its one of my favourite chapters in the last book.

Neville' speech and his beheading of Nagini was a goosebump moment.

Bellatrix being blasted into a million pieces by Molly was great. Really loved it.

Voldemort also evaporating into a million pieces was very cinematic and an improvement on the book in my opinion.

19 years later  :bawling:

The ending was perfect. Just perfect.

This film is perfect in everyway, except the Limbo scene.
Would definately say its the best film of the series. Hand's down!
