I haven't watched that closely the past few months but from what I've gathered Mac is Mr. Nice Guy to Nathan, Ellie and Alfie and then Marnie and James have faced his abuse over the years and Neeta has come to see Mac for who he is?

Have a feeling they might be killing him off and they're going to do a Who Dunnit though.

Perhaps the Christmas story line? He could do something to alienate Nathan, Ellie and Alfie and then after cheating on Neeta with Marnie, abusing James (and with John Paul getting with James he could tie in also) which could create a decent number of suspects?

Yes, they've turned Mac into a horrible guy. A whodunit sound possible actually the way things are going.
