John Barrowman's eyes LIT up then!

That was.... Okay I guess.

It's still got all the Chibnall related problems though. Like, WHY is he so vehemently opposed to presenting the Doctor as being competent? If this was any other Doctor, the episode would have ended at the factory where the Dalek reforged it's shell but instead the Doctor ****s up twice and almost gets Ryan's dad killed. It's just.... Why give the first female doctor this characterisation? Why is she not allowed to have the same big moments as the other doctors have had? It''s pretty unforgivable.

I'm also SICK of Chibnall's terrible writing, if I hear 'It can't be' in another one of his episodes, I'm done. He can only write in the most painful of cliches and his dialogue is just woeful and forced. The whole bit with the family having no wi-fi wasn't funny, it was just cringeworthy, needless and patronising. It's obvious and unimaginative and I think that sums up Chibnall's writing in a nutshell.

He wrote the Dalek stuff pretty well I suppose but then again, if his best writing comes from an inhumane avatar of destruction incapable of emotion, empathy or any kind of meaningful connection then that says it all, really.

Who knew Chibbers had it in him?

That Dalek was the best part of the episode. I'm kinda glad we have a years break from this. Gonna watch the Eccelston/Tennant eras and reflect on the good old days... maybe a bit of Capaldi during the Bill era.

It's so crap and predictable, isn't it. I said "no! It can't be!" in a stupid voice in perfect unison with JW.

And the family bit - it says something when you can tell even the actors think what they're saying is rubbish!

I'm hoping with old aliens making a comeback, the Doctor isnt going to have to spend forever explaining everything lol

TEA!!! Cba with half the episodes taken up by her explaining the back stories and non-existent scientific theories again!

When I saw Judoon was trending on twitter, I expected it to be a footballer or something, I was so glad it was actually Dr Who <3

I hope she regenerates soon - anyone from my sigpic would do nicely.

Rafe Spall has said he was meant to be the doctor but they got rid of him when he started telling people, he didnt say when though but I guess he was instead of Matt Smith?

Maxim Baldry has apparently signed up for various episodes.

I believe him and Mandip were in Hollyoaks together

Since her character died the year before he made his first appearance, I believe they did not.

They’re the new cybermen again which is a bit sad but a welcome return if they’re done right.

Rob! 23-08-2019 04:59 PM

The Cybermen are tricky to get right tbh. Moffat's Cybermen episodes while entertaining rarely featured them in an especially prominent role. They were more foot soldiers for the master/missy.

Glenn. 23-08-2019 06:07 PM

I never really liked the Cybermen.

Oliver_W 23-08-2019 10:45 PM

I prefer the old school Cybs. In NuWho they're basically always just stompy robots with no mind of their own. While in the old series they weren't too far removed from that in concept, but they still had individual minds, and could make their own plans etc.
