By Albert Einstein, correct. *MUSICAL FANFARE* I was going to do another group, but I realised I don't have another group ready :P I'm going to tally up the scores and get back to you shortly! |
Good work Shu. I'm off to watch dancing on ice results now x

So it's the end of the quiz, and looking at the scores...
GiRTh only answered once, but it was on what I suspected to be one of the most difficult questions of the game, enough to secure him 2 points. We have Jords and Kate, both scoring on the walls and unscrumpling the missing vowels to pluck out 4 a piece (and amazingly, Kate's answer of "Doggy. Sexual positions! Wut???????" had nothing to do with it!) Marc, determined as ever, shone in my little round of homophones and picked up a respectable 5 points, bridging the gap to our top 3. Picking up the bronze in this quiz, with a score of 14 is our previous victor Ammi! It wasn't enough to take the win this time but still very well done, consistency from start to finish secured you a podium finish :D Taking the silver this time is the first lady of Only Connect on TiBB herself, Livia finished with a brilliant 15 points. Brilliant and sharp as always, her knowledge of Friends characters and Malcolm in the Middle shot her to 2nd place, and her sexual deviancy proved once again an invaluable aid. She also scored what must be the most impressive five pointer I've ever seen, "David Cooke's signature", unbelievable. Very well done for yet another medal position, Livia :) But, beating Livia to the punch on quite a few questions proved the key to success here, as with a whopping 21 points the winner of this edition of Only Connect is Shaun! Eurovision translations, the Spring of Bandusia and Dolly the Sheep were all mere stepping stones to the plinth of victory, as he takes the crown from Ammi. Many congratulations, you proved determined for victory and you managed to pick apart my logic rather brilliantly, congratulations! It's just a bit of a shame none of you know more about IKEA, really. Quote:

Hey well done, Shaun x I let you win this off the back of your wonderful gift of song to me at Christmas... you know that, right?
Thanks Tregard, great fun as always. |

Made me laugh... but that aside... Next time I'm not just doing the hard rounds, I'm going to do the easy ones too just to make this song come back and bite you on the arse.
Love ya though x |

What's this? My trove of tricky trivial trials has re-opened and is willing to take you all on a quizzical quest once more. The questions are just as tricky, just as ridiculous and just as nonsensical as before, and as always all you have to do to win is correctly find the connections between apparently random clues.
It's all to play for as we start round one, where things usually start. In this round I want the link between four clues, standard procedure. Without too many theatrics then, let's get things started! Question 1 starts a little something like this: http://i.imgur.com/vgI6Fh1.png |
things that are on the front of Arctic Monkeys albums :suspect:
|
|
Scooby Doo?!
:amazed: and yay ! Only Connect is back  |
Hearing tests?

Bumps impatiently

The genre of rock? (Artic monkeys, Zounds)
Post punk? |

Used to express sounds.
|
Can I have another guess, Tregard...?
|
I'm going to anyway... swearing. 1 is the sound that bleeps swearing, the others are used to express oaths or swear words.

http://i.imgur.com/2NqRa1C.png As you said there, a 1 kilohertz sine wave is the famous "Bleep" noise you'll have no doubt heard many a time on various talk shows. "Zounds!" is a famous replacement word used instead of swearing, which means "God's wounds". Grawlixes are the series of symbols you'll see a comic character using (e.g. $£@*&!), and pixelation, quite simply, covers bits people aren't supposed to see. 2 points to you, Livia, which squares you up with Shaun! Onto question 2, had this one in the oven for a while, what connects them? : http://i.imgur.com/FqvWWac.png |

http://i.imgur.com/EyYuKbz.png Maybe I'm slipping again. Yes, with just one clue you're right yet again Livia, bagging you 5 points. Carlisle Civil Servants were once asked to pretend they were answering machines, horse_ebooks was a twitter account people believed to be random generated strings of words but was really being controlled by an actual person. The Chinese Room is a thought experiment in which someone acts as if they were a computer translating English to Chinese, and AWESOMEO 4000 is the robot Cartman pretends to be in South Park. Incredibly impressive. Onto question 3, these are going to be picture clues, what connects these four images? Here is the first: http://i.imgur.com/jzb8idu.png http://i.imgur.com/Y6rBoA5.png |
Food that has a brand name that includes the proprietor's name. Like Ben & Jerry's for example?

In that case... I'll try celebrities who share the same name with other celebrities (Ben Cohen = a rugby player too)
|
Hey Shaun... I overtook you again. I hear the winner this time gets a hot tub party with Tregard so I'm pulling out all the stops.
