and the scene with snape hugging harry's dead mother whilst he was in the backround crying got to me

It was Lavender Brown (from Half-Blood Prince) he was eating. Not that I liked her much but in the book Hermione was meant to curse him off her, but I suppose it left a bigger impact to kill her off.

Yeah, that was sad. Alan Rickman is such a good actor, I really hope he gets nominated at the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor next year. Potter never gets much regonition in the awards seasons though so I doubt he will sadly.

Agreed, I was never really fussed on the epilogue in the book and it came across even worse on screen. Emma Watson looked virtually the exact same. It's weird though because I've seen pictures of the first time they shot the Epilogue and she looked a lot better.

One thing they didn't seem to show was how Luna got to Hogwarts. One min she's at Bills house in the middle of nowhere and next she pops up in the village with all Neville and that lot lol

Marsh. 17-07-2011 06:11 PM

Bonnie Wright irritates me so much. She's an awful actress, so bad that even when she has no lines she stinks the screen up with her mannerisms. Seeing her and Daniel Radcliffe be "coupley" is vomit inducing.

Edit - OMG, just watched that video. lol. "I've been mourning you since you died and I haven't washed my hair since".

InOne 17-07-2011 06:12 PM

I don't really get all this Neville hype tbh, yeah he was better but some of his moments were quite cringey :/

Ninastar 17-07-2011 06:12 PM

also it seems like Luna and Neville get together at the end of the film where as in the book they don't (or at least I think they don't)

Marsh. 17-07-2011 06:14 PM

I think JK Rowling said she likes to think Luna and Neville got together but thought it overkill to include them in the epilogue. Though I may be wrong.

Callum 17-07-2011 07:04 PM

Yeah I hated how they never explained Luna's sudden appearance in the RoR too. Just got back from seeing it again, had to watch in 3D again sadly. Alan Rickman stole the show for me, he's been brilliant in them all but he was really given a chance to shine in this one. Dumbledore in King's Cross looks so much like Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, in the book he's meant to be wearing midnight blue robes, they should have kept that. Why did they make Harry snap the Elder wand though, now he can't repair his wand. :conf: Oh and the fact that like nobody is crying when Harry is carried back is rather odd, in the book McGonagall screams and you get a sense of real tragedy but in the film none of that.

Luna went on to marry the grandson of a famous naturelist. She married Rolf Scamander and had twin boys.

JK Rowling said:tongue:

Yeah they just sort of stand there and look gormless. They're like yeah Harry just died so let's let Neville make a speech

Tom4784 17-07-2011 07:28 PM

I'm going to see this tomorrow.

Also a shame the way they just showed Lupin and Tonks dead, like they were quite big in the books and seemed to get played down

Callum 17-07-2011 07:33 PM

Now the top opening weekend film of all time, it brought in around $168 million, beating the previous record of $158 million by The Dark Knight. :D I think it stands a strong chance of becoming the highest grossing film ever, by the looks of things it will be the first Potter film to pass the billion dollar mark anyway.

Yeah, the deaths never made much of an impact on film like they did in the book. But then again Tonks was a bigger character in the books than in the films, they never developed her at all, she only had a few lines each movie. A whole load of footage was cut from Order of the Phoenix and apparently Tonks had loads more lines. Fred's death too was lacklusture, one quick shot of Ron crying and that was the end of it. No big return for Percy neither, I only think people who have read the book will have noticed that he returned.

Yeah, there's not a lot in the films about Percy and his family falling out is there? It's like they forgot he existed :joker:

I love the bit where we first see Malfoy and he just apperates into the castle

Glenn. 17-07-2011 07:46 PM

What was your favourite quotes from the film?

Mine was from The Grey Lady

'Strange....You remind me of him a bit.

Its here. In the castle. In the place where everything is hidden.
If you have to ask, you will never know.
If you know, you need only ask'.

Gives me chills.

Callum 17-07-2011 07:47 PM

This song is so epic  Get chills whenever I hear it, even more epic in the film when the Professors are putting up the protection.
