Depends on the Country.

Perfume was released weeks ago in the US and only got to #76.

What happened to the days of releasing a music video as a promo for 3 weeks then releasing the single? The music industry has gone backwards.

Saph 01-12-2013 04:44 PM

the Perfume vid will premier on Tues

Saph 01-12-2013 11:15 PM

download your copy now :dazzler:

That works in the UK because it's a chart solely dependant on sales in the US it's a culmination of radio airplay, streaming via YouTube and spotify and sales, as soon as it starts getting played on radio it starts selling and so it charts straight away

reece(: 01-12-2013 11:26 PM

Excited for the Perfume vid :dazzler:

Lana in Daily Mail today

'When people ask me about the next record, I just have to be honest - I really don't know if that's going to happen, I have written a song New York City and I am trying to get Britney Spears on the track, we've been in touch a few times. The song is about wanting to go to New York when you can't, the state of mind and body and soul when you're in New York.' she said about her followup full-length record to Born To Die. 'I don't want to say, "Yeah, definitely - the album is going to happen," because I don't really hear a next one just yet.'

and if she doesnt know if she will do a new album then wtf has she been doing for the past year and a half :suspect:

Saph 02-12-2013 11:20 AM

to celebrate her 32nd bday, MTV listed 32 reasons they love her

The 2002 VMAs were held on Michael Jackson's birthday, and to celebrate ,Britney came out in a full dominatrix outfit and presented Jackson with a cake, calling him the "artist of the millennium." Jackson misunderstood the statement and thought he was receiving the Artist of the Millennium award and gave an acceptance speech.

Will not be pleased if BJ debuts less than #5

Saph 02-12-2013 12:08 PM

same
I think FF debuted at 8 in the uk so anything higher than that is good

I dont think she'll get a US #1 :/ One Direction are predicted to sell around 200k second week and apparently Eminem is as well.. and irrelevants like Micheal Buble are charting quite high too

Me. I Am Salman 02-12-2013 01:42 PM

I'll be really shocked if this charts well tbh

Erm no....A chart position only depends on number of copies sold.

SALES is everything.

Also the UK and the rest of the world has radio airplay, streaming via YouTube and spotify.

And it doesnt start selling straight away in the mass because it gets instant radio play, it used to be all about the build up then BAM! Britney released it and that 1 week everyone would finally get their copy.

Its bollocks youtube, releasing songs before they are even premiered with a promo just kills it. By the time the video is released people are over it. Look at Work Bitch yeah it charted at 7 but only spent 2 weeks in the top 40.

Record companies and marketing haven't seemed to grasp the digital age and own it.

They are the OAPS of the music industry

daniel-lewis-1985 02-12-2013 04:36 PM

Im predicting #14.

Remember her "In The Zone" album didn't even make top 10 and that was one of her classics.

Anyway im off to the high street to purchase it right now, gonna pick up some Kleenex on the way.
