Shh don't be negative.

:fist: It's hard to be positive with eviction ratings like that. No amount of sunshine and football can make a little over 1m viewers look good.

I know I don't understand how people can even defend such a poor overnight.

When I posted it I actually thought for the first time people would come to their senses and acknowledge it was a poor rating but still its excuse after excuse.

Rob! 21-06-2014 03:33 PM

The officials had better be good :(
There wasn't any excuse for last night - especially when you consider that 8 out of ten cats didn't beat BB at all last year.

the excuse is that the show is nowhere near as good as the previous c5 civilian series. so the ratings are lower. they wont climb much either as the weeks draw on and the show becomes somewhat more boring.

they must be itching to get started on CBB

I don't understand. Unless the +1 figure was 300k+, I am disappointed. It doesn't make sense that two nights this week got 1.4m, and the eviction gets 1.09m? There must be something iffy about that surely. The France match had the lowest rating for a WC game at that time so we can't blame that either. I'm confused.

I can't defend it, the +1 would have to have been large. Something odd for sure with last nights rating.

Edit- Wait, what? So it was 1.25m incl?

I'm hoping for uplifts of half a million as the first few days got 400k uplift.

Josy 21-06-2014 06:38 PM

The rating was **** for the eviction not even gonna lie but I'm thinking the weather may be a contributing reason? it's been roasting hot here, not sure if it's the same elsewhere but people may be choosing to sit out in the sun/go to garden parties instead of staying in to watch tv.

It's on at 9pm and against the football tonight too.

Josy 21-06-2014 06:43 PM

I suppose a good thing is the ratings were awful the first week and ch5 released a statement saying they were happy with them

Rob! 21-06-2014 06:50 PM

I wonder if because BB is something that you have to be completely dedicated to to watch it all the way through, people didn't bother from the start as they would rather watch the World Cup?

Yeah I mentioned that earlier in the thread and think it's definitely possible.

Jamesy 21-06-2014 06:54 PM

People are quite invested with the footie and the weather has been amazing (lots of people were doing barbeques around where I live last night). So either of those could be affecting figures. I think the launch shows put a lot of people off too (even I was going to switch off quickly). Given the first few days were hardly engaging TV that has no doubt impacted a lot on this series viewers.

I'm holding out for more officials to come out before a final judgement yet. The ratings aren't great and down 200-600k from last year although they have stayed steadily around the 1 million mark which shows there is a dedicated audience still (might be easy to say BB is a cult show these days).

If officials for this eviction and the previous episodes are crap then I'll be very concerned. I'm sitting on the fence for now though.

But is still doesn't make sense. It's not like people jave dropped the series because of the footie because it got two ratings of 1.4m in the week, so to fall to 1.1m has nothing to do with people not watching because of the matches, but something else. Maybe the +1 rating was very large or maybe the officials will be huge for last night?

Pronshi 21-06-2014 11:21 PM

I can't wait to see what Big Brother got against The Hunger Games on channel 4 last night.

duclos 22-06-2014 05:10 AM

The officials for the first couple of days aren't half bad:
Thursday (Launch #1) - 2.43 million
Friday (Launch #2) - 1.96 million
Saturday - 1.46 million
Sunday - 1.92 million

Maybe BB got at least 1.2 yesterday evening, I hope it did but i wouldn't bet on it.

Jemal 22-06-2014 09:43 AM

Jemal 22-06-2014 09:47 AM

Yea i guess it is bad but some people (including me) just didnt feel the need to rewatch the eviction i guess

Samm 22-06-2014 09:53 AM

It's was against the football last night and a film and it was a Saturday so I'm not surprised

Jake. 22-06-2014 10:05 AM

Channel 4's premiere of #TheHungerGames averaged a strong 2.67m/16.2% from 9pm, putting it behind BBC1 only during that time.

Rob! 22-06-2014 10:10 AM

*mazedsalv** 22-06-2014 10:42 AM

Chill out people, it was Saturday yesterday AND against a match and still was the most watched Saturday of the series, with +1 it would be close to 1m. Also, even excluding +1, it was higher than BB14's 3rd Saturday.

*mazedsalv** 22-06-2014 10:47 AM

Officials have been released earlier than usual:

05/06 - 2.43m (10.8%)
06/06 - 1.96m (9.4%)
07/06 - 1.46m (6.3%)
08/06 - 1.92m (7.7%)
09/06 - 1.61m (6.1%) and 1.44m (7.5%)
10/06 - 1.84m (9.8%)
11/06 - 1.65m (9.3%)
12/06 - 1.37m (6.1%)
13/06 - 1.37m (5.4%) and 1.34m (7.9%)

Yes, there may be some that look low, but those last 3 ratings all were sub 1m in overnights because of the start of the World Cup, so there was a climb of 400k. The ratings we should be looking at is the 1.84m and the 1.65m, those were similar in the overnights to what all this week got (Monday-Thursday), so we should be expecting overnights of 1.6-1.9m for the officials for the last few days.
