Good win for Manchester City.

But tbh, it's only Leeds who have lots of problems in the team at the moment. (lots of key player injuries etc.)

Norwich manager Dean Smith "doesn't know" if he will have enough players to face West Ham this weekend.

Injuries and coronavirus concerns left Smith without several first-team members for Tuesday's loss to Aston Villa.

The Premier League has introduced new guidelines in an effort to stem rising Covid cases.

But Smith is unaware of the number of positive cases required for a game to be postponed.

"We played Tottenham and they had an outbreak, we played Manchester United and they had an outbreak," Smith said after the 2-0 defeat. "We wanted guidance whether it would be fair on Villa if we had symptomatic players around us.

"I'm not saying all our players are symptomatic and have Covid, because some are injured."

Brentford manager Thomas Frank and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta have already made calls for clarity regarding the number of positive cases that would lead to a game being called off.

as if Norwich is any good with all their players in the squad anyway :fan:

and maybe something in their reserves team is better than what they've played with till now, i mean it cannot be any worse either

It wouldn't surprise me if that's what was wrong with Lindelof in the last Man Utd game, and look how unhealthy he was in that particular match.

Lindelof apparently experienced breathing problems and is now wearing a heart monitor... heard that on the radio yesterday

Leicester's Premier League game with Tottenham will go ahead, despite both clubs asking for it to be postponed.

The Foxes are without nine players for Thursday's home game because of Covid-related issues and injuries.

Tottenham wanted to use the date to play their Europa Conference League game with Rennes, called off last week after a Covid outbreak.

"Unfortunately we weren't granted dispensation, which is disappointing," said Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers.

"As a team and a club, we have always wanted to support all the measures, but when we need a little support with the extreme situation we find ourselves in, we weren't able to get it.

West Ham and supposedly SuperMoyse have apparently earned just 3 points out if the last 15 !?!

There’ll be some calling for his head soon

Well that's bull**** because we had five points in our last three games before tonight including a 3-2 win over Chelsea

This is false.

In their last 5 PL games, West Ham already have earned 5 points. (1 win - 2 draws - 2 losses)

In their last 10 PL matches, West Ham have earned 17 points. (5 wins - 2 draws - 3 losses)

In their last 15 PL matches, West Ham have earned 25 points. (7 wins - 4 draws - 4 losses)

(If you count European competition, the result gets even better.)

Also in the last 39 days, West Ham have defeated both Chelsea and Liverpool (who are huge favorites to win Premier League) at home and only lost 2-1 to Manchester City at away.

I think he and they will be alright.

Maybe it’s 5 out of 18 ?

Hmm... maybe they meant that in 5 matches, out of a possible maximum of 15 points (5 wins), they only managed to get 3 points (1 win).

But you could say that in 5 games, West Ham only lost 2 of those and dodged a loss in 3. And they're not the easiest of opponents.

Man City away loss
Brighton home draw
Chelsea home win
Burnley away draw
Arsenal away loss

bots 16-12-2021 06:19 AM

spurs, WH and Man U are all queuing up behind Arsenal. Spurs and Man U have games in hand so I dont think Arsenal are in that great a position. It will likely be competitive in that area until the last game of the season

Yeah it's hardly a nightmare run of form lol

We are looking a bit leggy though which isn't too surprising with all our injuries in defence and our overreliance on Antonio as our only striker

Brentford boss Thomas Frank believes this weekend's Premier League games and the League Cup ties next week should be postponed because of Covid-19.

The Bees have 13 cases of the virus among players and staff.

They had their league game against Manchester United called off on Tuesday because of a Covid-19 outbreak at the Old Trafford club.

"The Covid cases are going through the roof at all Premier League clubs," said Frank.

"Everyone is dealing with it and everyone has a problem at this moment in time.

"To postpone this round [of Premier League games] and the Carabao Cup would give everyone a week at least to clean and do everything at the training ground so everything is fine and we break the chain at every club."

Burnley's home match against Watford on Wednesday was postponed two and a half hours before kick-off after a Covid-19 outbreak in the away team.

That followed Brighton's game at the weekend against Tottenham being called off because of a high number of cases in the Spurs camp and Brentford's game against Manchester United being postponed.

Brentford are at Southampton on Saturday before hosting Chelsea in the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Frank was called during his news conference on Thursday and told that there had been four more cases at the club to take the tally to 13.

"We respect fully that we want to play. We want to carry on but this way we can have Boxing Day going no problem, 100% sure of that," said Frank. "We think that would be very sensible to do that.

"The club have been in regular contact with the Premier League over the last couple of days."

Frank also called for more transparency from clubs regarding the number of cases they are dealing with.

------------------------------------------

Manchester United have reported more positive coronavirus cases after the squad returned to training.

United shut the first-team section of their training ground on Monday after a rise in coronavirus cases that resulted in Tuesday's Premier League game against Brentford being postponed.

United did train on Wednesday but without the players who had returned positive tests.

They are set to face Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday at 12:30 GMT.

However, it is not clear if that fixture will be played, with the club keeping the Premier league informed of developments.

Cherie 16-12-2021 09:03 AM

oh no, its going to kill the fixtures isn't it

Yep ... looks like the Christmas schedule won’t be happening ... I can see them having to suspend the season for a month or two
