4PM This Afternoon Live
One other MP Goes

Penny Morduant 82 (-1)
Lizz Truss 71 (+7)
Kemi Badenoch 58 (+9)

It will be interesting to see today's figures.

I must be missing a great deal as I just cannot understand how there's people in the Cons and the media building up Truss.
As a candidate for leader, she is the worst possible candidate, in my view anyhow.

bots 19-07-2022 07:25 AM

Truss has got the big money behind her, the reason is as simple as that. If the big donors want Truss, the tory mp's will be quick to oblige. I'm not sure we have seen this story run it's course yet though. For me, any of the 3 ladies could make the final pairing as it stands now. It's feasible for example that Rishi's team gift Kemi a few votes to make sure Truss finishes last today .... stranger things have happened

Will she be the King maker
of the final 2?

bots 19-07-2022 10:00 AM

mark my words, if Rishi is half way sensible, he will lend Kemi sufficient votes today to ensure Truss finishes last

bots 19-07-2022 11:36 AM

voting underway, result at 3pm

Liam- 19-07-2022 11:41 AM

It’s clear as day that they think their days are numbered being in government, so they’re trying to push through someone who’ll do the most damage in as much time as they have left

arista 19-07-2022 11:49 AM

Who is saved with Toms 31 votes?

arista 19-07-2022 11:51 AM

Good
Tomorrow Wednesday

[Another vote - which will give us the final two - will take place tomorrow.]

Then 6 weeks of Sunak and one other

That would be Good

Liz Truss is just a continuation of Boris Johnson without the jokes.

They are probably losing the next election is she wins.

Then they would appoint a 'moderniser' leader. ie. David Cameron 2.0.

Tbh they are losing the election regardless, only Penny has the slim chance of staying but would need good results fast

bots 19-07-2022 01:37 PM

There are a whole swathe of tories that are missing from this contest because boris got shot of them before the last election. That traditionally would have been the section of the party that would have triumphed now

Gusto Brunt 19-07-2022 01:37 PM

I'm still not getting this Kemi Badenoch thing.

Every time I turn on the radio or go on YouTube, it's constant 'she is the most amazing person ever.'

It's like a bizarre second coming. Really odd. She might be moderately adequate but I find her quite rude in those debates.

In my view, she's not PM material. But like I say this obsession with her, it's totally baffling.

bots 19-07-2022 01:42 PM

it's the hard right nationalists that support Kemi. If Kemi was elected pm, we would be in putin territory within 5 years

I don't know exactly who is supporting her but I find it really weird.

I hope she is knocked out of the race today so people will stop worshipping her. :joker:
