This series is golden
George Clooney and Sandra Bullock were amazing in this.
I thought tonight's was the best so far (although the next three look great).
Spoiler: |
Fantastic episode, didn't expect a lasting effect on the Doctor from this episode. The episode played on Clara's death well too, showing how far the Doctor will go to stop his companions from being hurt.
I've been rewatching in weird reverse order. Finished Matt Smith and just started on Tennant... The production values at the beginning of the Tennant era tho. :umm2:. Pish!
I also definitely reckon Matt Smith is my fav doctor, which is possibly a weird / unpopular choice? |

I've been re-watching some too though on Netflix.
And although I always disliked Martha (still do - Freema is just baaaaadd) series 3 is quite the little gem looking back. |
Wow that episode was just fab it was straightforward and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and for once I actually liked the ending.
Bill was amazing at portraying the fear too.
I think we've become a bit used to arrogant companions (Rose, Amy, Clara) breezing through adventures in space straight away without that initial fear/reluctance. |

Wow that was amazing. This series

The use of green screen improves. :worry: |
One thing I think Moffat is better at than RTD was is the spreading out of money across the series. RTD always went big for the finale leaving him with some episodes where he didn't have much for CGI or big set pieces. The majority of Moffat episodes look amazing all series, plus his finales tend to be fairly understated anyway.
I think Moffat has more money and the benefit of taking over several years after everything had already been set up and prepared for him.
Being totally fair, I've actually noticed a fairly dramatic improvement in TV show effects in the last 6 or 7 years in general. It's probably just getting cheaper to develop half decent effects.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge has broken through this year thanks to Fleabag, and now that she's famous, she's been linked to taking on the lead role in Doctor Who once Peter Capaldi departs.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at the BAFTA TV Awards, where she won the Female Performance in a Comedy Programme, she said "I am not going to be the first female Doctor, not that I know of. |
They're just finding "quirky" looking women and adding them to the rumour list because they're not "traditional" looking beauties and look a bit funny. That's why Miranda Hart and Tilda Swinton were rumoured too.
It might be kind of offensive if it weren't bloody hilarious. |
I loved The Idiot's Lantern.
Oh it is from that episode isn't it, nevermind :ninja2:
It is. I watched that yesterday.
Derek Branning :ninja2: |

Of all the things I expected to turn up this episode, the Large Hadron Collider was not one
Anyway, it's nice to see that Moffat's gone back to his funny old trick of refusing to structure a coherent episode
I loved it! I don't think it can really be judged as a standalone though, and we'll have to see how the next two epsiodes pan out.
This was my least fave episode of the series so far, hope it picks up again soon as the first few episodes have been great
Nardole/Matt Lucas is really annoying imo |
I really liked this episode, felt like an older Moffat episode, hope the next two keep it up. Also felt a bit RTD with the modern day stuff.
The highlight was Missy as always.
More silliness. Felt like the ridiculous episodes with the Silence again. Even down to an Oval Office set.
Doesn't he look tired...
:oh:
The central concept of this episode was awfully similar to "The Framework" in Agents of SHIELD
"Evolution of the Daleks"
The human-dalek with the New York accent. ...... ... Hilarious :joker: |
Can't say I especially understood what was going on there. With the ratings the way they are, the last thing they needed was a convulated mess on an episode.
