It's not hard to refute relgious logic. Who designed the designer? If their logic is that we were created then surely God must have been created too?

Enid you believe god doesn't exist and you believe science is right don't you? Plus you must believe in all your morals etc. Your entire thought process is based on belief.

But... Science does exist!

My morals don't boil down to faith. It's called Determinism.

It doesn't make it right though. Religion also exists remember.

And if you're deterministic, does that mean you personally believe in fate to an extent?

GypsyGoth 14-10-2009 03:35 PM

What is determinism?

Nah, not fate as such. But more so that none of our decisions are ultimately our choice. Whether that's down to genes or past experiences, etc.

The belief that every event leads to another bigger event. Kind of like Final Destination (e.g. the woman puts the tea towel over the knives, then falls, needs the tea towel for something, the knives fall and then she dies)

Then 3 main arguments about it, whether we're fully controlled by someone/something else, if we have a set route but still make decisions or if we're completely free to do what we want. Its all about free will and such.

GypsyGoth 14-10-2009 03:37 PM

Thanks, it sounds interesting.

Another example. I turn on the TV and see some rice pudding, the next day I subconsciously buy some ingredients to make some rice pudding but accidentally burn it. Years later, I am in a restaurant and given a choice of desert. Rice pudding or treacle cake. I choose treacle cake because of my bad experience with rice pudding.

39) Many children are raised religious at a young age without a choice to reason and choose what they want to believe

My parents raised me as Christian and I've to go to church until I leave home. I hardly believe any of it tbh..

To be honest, the more I learnt about it through school etc. the more far fetched and hard to believe it came. It's a catholic school and everything lol

to be honest I think people need to believe in something more or else, what's the point in living??? I wish there was something but it's highly unlikely

I think people need to believe in something more as such. They should learn to live life to the full and realise how lucky they are to actually be here.
