How can you even compare this one to that?

This one is non event, a non-entity.

Who cares that it got a few angry indians to cry and moan on the news!
It still ruined BBUK forever!

Guess what Incase you havent heard..
BB11 Is the last series on Channel 4 this summer.

Link the Axe of LF, Low ratings all together and it brings you straight back to the cause of the problem.
CBB5 and Jade Goody.

If she had just **** and piss off, instead of wanting more money.. Then we wouldnt be saying goodbye to Big Brother UK.

So **** the **** publicity it got for 2 weeks, I'd rather watch BB UK For Summers to come than have 2 weeks of publicity for a **** CBB Series.

CBB5 made headlines the world over, Gordon Brown got involved. It had Dirk (Starbuck face) in it. It had so much more than this one.

For all the wrong reasons.

And YES! Publicity is the lifeblood of BB.

I didn't say CBB5 was the sole reason behind Big Brother's demise in the UK, did I, you intellectual virtuoso.

Publicity in itself does not make for good entertainment. Only a mug would suggest that. Your not a mug now, are you, old man?

And the bad publicity ensured big money sponsors walked away, therefore the quality of the following series dropped dramatically. It also resulted in the media slating the show and questioning its fans, it became cool to knock BB and so on....

Nemo123 26-01-2010 11:16 PM

I mean, even BB hijack had Emilia Artata.

What has this one got? Nicola, giddy-up!

No such thing as bad publicity, only publicity.

Nemo123 26-01-2010 11:19 PM

More people watched after the Shilpa controversy than ever.

You still have not replied to my questions. You bitched about this forums younger members not giving you much debate material and I have given you something :

Publicity in itself does not automatically make for entertainment.

The question of favourite series is entirely down to opinion.

You are completely ignorant of others opinions.

You think the race row was good publicity for Big Brother? Your even stupider than I initially imagined.

CBB5 was the first nail in BBUK's coffin. More people than ever watched it, because it inspired a morbid fascination in viewers not dissimilar to being unable to look away from a car crash. The series was plagued with manipulation, cover-ups and lousy PR. Big Brother has never recovered from it.

The only valid point you make is the second one:

"The question of favourite series is entirely down to opinion"

Your first point is wrong, because controversy is the meat of reality TV, and your third one offensive.

I'd have to take your word for it. But BB has been going downhill a long time.

Because of the race row.

Of course controversy is the meat of Reality TV. But press attention in itself does not make for a great series. If Big Brother 5 had happened without any press attention, but with the exact same events happening in the house, would you have considered it ****?

I asked you if you would have liked Big Brother 5 - not Celebrity Big Brother 5 - without the media controversy.

But I will take your answer either way as proof of my point. You said you still would have liked the events in the house within the press controversy. Thus proving press involvment does not make or break a series and it's entirely possible to like a series with no press coverage if one feels the series has been entertaining. People feel this series has been entertaining.

Voila.

I said 'Big Brother 5'. If I meant the celebrity series I would have said 'Celebrity Big Brother 5'.

How much clearer could I make it?

In discusing CBB, I though you were shorthanding.

Stu 26-01-2010 11:55 PM

'CBB' is three characters.

'Big Brother 5' is eleven characters.

No.

If it was a tired format CBB7 wouldnt be so popular.

Jade ****ed it up and then the producers axed LF incase anyone was racist.

Their far too PC now because of Jade.

Its JADES Fault and the producers for thinking it would happen again, but Emily on BB8 did it no good tbh.

So its nothing to do with the format, because if the format was old then BB around the world would be tired.
But the UK has the best BB, the only reason its axed is because fans dont watch Because Producers have ruined it with their PC ways.
