Sometimes, you have to be a little bit selfish, if you werent, you would have no luxuries yourself

Mars bars rot your teeth.

Would you rather if you were in a situation like the Haiti people that people would spend money on you to help you live in life. You really are shallow.

A small amount would go along way. Sparing a pound, or even less, still goes a long way. The amount of money you spend during a week on snacks and drinks would seem like a fortune to them. Even if the majority of the world all donated a penny each, that would amount to a lot of money. If you aren't willing to spare the smallest bit of money that you don't need, then you, and others who think the same, have a problem.

no, we dont NEED them.
But, they make us feel better
We are here to enjoy our own lives, not giving money to other people we dont even know!

What a lovely sensible mature attitude you have to those who have less than yourself.

You do not need your Mars Bar. You need food and clothes.

Yes, they make us feel better. But similarly, that money would make those people feel better.

We're here to enjoy our own lives, yes. But if you honestly believe that a few pence that you could quite easily spare will help you enjoy your life more, then you're living in dreamland.

Wow, I can't believe I'm having this coversation with this level of immaturity.

Just unbelievable. I hope for your sake you'll understand more as you grow up.

If you was in Haiti and I was living here in the UK. I have 5p to spare. I could either buy some cheap sweets or buy a tablet to help you live or you would die...

This is really quite amazing from someone who condemns jokes about Josef Fritlz, Maddie McCann etc. Surely if you don't like jokes about them, you care for them, and so would quite happily help them out?

If you don't care, don't condemn jokes about them.

I can assure you it's not just different views. More like ill educated, inhumane and immature remarks.

Nothing more, nothing less.

She has been taken away by someone - whether shes dead or alive.

And I was just sitting there in disgust.

Disgust about what exactly? Your attitude disgusts me. Over 220,000 dead and millions injured and homeless. Half dead bodies lying by roadsides. Thousands of children suddenly without family...etc etc

And you begrudge giving a pound or two? Thats pathetic. Truly pathetic.

Earthquakes will certainly happen. But the damage they do depends a lot on how poorly constructed the buildings are. California is also prone to earthquakes but the damage has been relatively limited mostly because they have very high standards for large building constructions.

Poor countries like Haiti have low standards because thats all they can afford. So not only does haiti need billions to help heal the sick and feed the huge amount who are destitute. But they also need to rebuild to a much higher standard to prevent this scale of deaths from happening again.

So don't tell me that money doesn't help. Just ignorant beyond belief.

...and saying you'd rather spend 5P on rainbow dust than give it to help the people in need isn't?

It's still the same principle. You can't condemn jokes about it if you're not willing to help them.

I know but it is the word Priorities again you need to understand. The 5p sweet does not help anyone at all in the slightest.

Shasown 14-02-2010 11:46 AM

In answer to the OP no I think they are totally in love with each other to the exclusion of all others.

In other words they pull each other's puds, drink each other's baby gravy and occasionally slip their sausages into the other one's hershey highway.
