Did it not have something to do with the murder of a senator or congressman and some of his followers who wanted to go back home to the US?

Ahhhh right nice. I guess we can't really judge people until we're in their situation. You ever watched any of the series Most Evil?

The show that profiles murders etc, yeah seen a few of them, not all.

Interesting stuff. Cant say i would like to have to do his job, getting into the mind of serial killers etc, cant be good for your own mental health.

Well it fascinates some people I guess. And unless you're a sadist or Psychopath ect, I doubt you'd ever really get into their mind. They thrive on the attention. It's also weird how the killer is remembered yes the vicitms forgotton. Wonder what that says about society?

Shasown 02-03-2010 01:18 AM

Yeah I suppose it is a failing in society in some ways the killer becomes more important that the victim.

However, it could also be a simple act of memory, take for example the name Peter Sutcliffe, it would have appeared many times after his arrest and during his trial, whereas remembering the names of his victims, both murder victims and numerous victims of his attacks would be asking too much of the memory.

Yeah true man. But that is the thing, they were just faces to him and they become faces to us. We have been hardened to these kind of things with the moors murders and that, but what he did was still pretty shocking. And the level of violence involved. He wasn't even a sex killer really either.

Shasown 02-03-2010 01:30 AM

Yeah I suppose in some ways we have become hardened to it, saying that (god forbid) should someone close to us or even ourselves become victims of an isolated act of murder or violence it would still shock.

Maybe its our own fault for allowing the media to dictate to us, what we are interested in watching, what emphasis is given to certain failings in our society.

Lets face it TV producers decided what we would be watching tonight, not what we would want to watch but what they decided to offer us. Newspaper editors decide what story they will force on us tomorrow morning.

InOne 02-03-2010 01:31 AM

Yep, that is why I don't really bother with TV anymore, prefer to read and that.

Yeah I tend to go with that, TV can seem like its for people too lazy to read etc. saying that i can be lazy and just go with it. News items and the like can be more instant. and there are good investigative journalists working for TV companies. But again you pretty much always get a subjective point of view regardless whether its on the TV in books newspapers or magazines.

Oh well, good on you.

Everyone who refuses to have kids is only doing their duty to reduce the world's surplus population. :D

LOL nah I have got children, it was more a health concern thing, why should my long term partner continue to take chemical contraception, given the potential damaging effect it has upon womens health, when I could just go and be gelded.

The things we do for love eh?

I might not get along with Patrick, but I have nothing against him.
