Well he did not quote you, and it was a statement more than anything. I don't think he had any intention of starting a fight.

I agree, this time last year my fave artist was Miley Cyrus:P
but i tried something different, and liked it way more, Miley Cyrus is just meh to me now:P

I know this will sound weird, but someone who has the same taste as me... because I like the music.

Or someone who likes people who write their own stuff... that's good too :D

I'm not saying I don't. I just can't be bothered if I'm honest plus I don't listen to music much anyway. Just music channels as background noise or when I'm out. I don't really care about having limited knowledge or whatever, it doesn't affect me.

Anyone can have a good music taste, in their opinion.

There isn't really a "good music taste", if you listen to a certain type of music because you enjoy it, then that is fine.

If you hate another genre then that's fine too.

Ross 01-03-2010 03:41 PM

Um, well good music taste to me is music I like. I don't really judge anyone on what music they like. I listen to alot of the chart music, that's mt choice but I do enjoy giving other genres a try. It's good to lengthen your knowledge sometimes.

I don't think it's fair for anyone to say someones music taste is wrong or stupid. Each to their own.

Jack_ 01-03-2010 03:46 PM

As a collective term a 'good music taste' does not exist. Sure, what you like and listen to is a 'good music taste', and anyone that likes the same thing you'll also see as having a 'good music taste'. But just because you like an artist/genre, it doesn't mean everybody else has to, or else they have a shit taste in music. Music is perceptive, just like many other things.

I'd agree that people should expand their music knowledge and taste, and even though I haven't gone that far musically so far in my life, I've promised myself that I will, because I love music and want to hear new things, eventually. But then again, not everybody is as passionate about music as someone else is.

Some people just need to get off their ****ing high horse and accept that their music taste is not the be all and end all of music, and that their music taste is just their opinion and not a fact. If you ask me, music snobbery is worse than not broadening your horizons in the first place.

Tom4784 01-03-2010 03:50 PM

A good music taste is a broad music taste, There's no such thing as a bad genre, only bad artists. I've got no time for people who just stick to one genre and such, I'd find it utterly boring.

Mrluvaluva 01-03-2010 03:58 PM

I am an eclectic music fan. I listen to anything and everything. I won't ignore a certain genre because any of them are very diverse. I think a person should be open minded about music and not dismissive. I like to listen to music of all ages too. You cannot define what is "good taste". It doesn't exist. Everybody has different taste. Enjoy what you listen to and don't get too hung up about it. It's there to enjoy.

MrGaryy 01-03-2010 04:16 PM

as most have said, good taste is varied taste. But to me it's also about being open to all music [i.e Tom limiting himself to chart music, Laura refusing to listen to a GaGa song or Robbie song or w/e] because you NEVER know what will take your fancy and artists [artists that is - not Britney Spears or The Saturdays] change all the time so you shouldn't let silly things get in the way of that.

I feel I have a pretty good balance at the minute. Like, I can very much enjoy pop fluff like Britney, Heidi Montag, Leona, ect. but most importantly I can discern between that and real music that has been produced by a real artist.

I am open to all music, I'm just not a fan of chasing music because I'm not big on music. If music finds me other than on TV/radio (e.g. someone sending me links to lesser known songs or if I watch a programme which uses a song I really like) then I'll listen that way but I don't make the effort to find it.

LemonJam 01-03-2010 04:26 PM

When the music is very well written is good music.

but your lack of effort to look for new music has therefore closed you off from it. You have said, if you don't hear a song rammed down your throat by radio and TV, there's no chance you'll ever hear it.
