Well if you explain what is great about your examples then that will answer your question

Why are Rothko, Breton, Bacon and Picasso not crap? Well apart from the fact that they have given me great enjoyment, I think it's only fair we give more recent works of art the benefit of the doubt and let them stand the test of time. Maybe I would expand on this, but I don't think I am obliged to explain myself when you have remained intentionally vague.

Why don't you explain to us all how you scoured the globe to see one hundred per cent of all modern art and poetry.

I shall do that after you explain about why it is relevant or biologically correct to refer to people on Tibb as abortion survivors

I was using hyperbole in the context of an insult. Don't be so stupid. It's not meant to be biologically correct.

Your a grown man. Why do you always feel the need to change the topic to something else?

I await your explanation. After all, you hound people for facts and figures all the time. It's only right that you prove to us how you yourself have witnessed 100% of all modern art and poetry.

Niamh. 03-03-2010 09:30 AM

I would have to say that most modern art that I've seen is fairly crap, my kids could do a better job tbh but that's just my opinion, maybe I'm not not deep enough "to get it"

yes but the thread title is 99% and i dont recall me personally saying I have witnessed 100% nor would anyone think such a thing except for an angry pedantic teenager who is desperate to prove himself at every turn to bolster his wounded ego. I am using hyperbole of course...

Its not that you are not deep enough it is just that you are too honest.

Thank you for proving my point and missing it simultaneously. Of course I don't expect you to have witnessed 100% of modern art and poetry, so your opinion of me for expecting such a thing is null and void. Just remember this in future when you jump on someones back and hound them for proof they can't possibly give you of something. You do it all the time when someone disagrees with your mighty moral, ethical and religious values and what's more you know it.

Lesson over.

maybe you could give me an example of "when you jump on someones back and hound them for proof they can't possibly give you of something. "

meanwhile I will go and get the kettle on

Straight off the top of my head was yesterday when you demanded some sort of proof that parents who force religion on their children do in fact exist on planet earth.

I doubt your kettle is faster than I.

That is not hounding, lol, that is asking someone to backup a post that is prejudicial. The person concerned (oh my, it was you) was making sweeping generalisations that did not have basis in truth and you naturally did not back it up.

have a look at your posts in this thread if you require a "hounding" tutorial. :joker:

How was I being prejudicial? How was I making sweeping generalisations? I was talking about parents in the world who breath faith down their childrens necks. These people do exist. They aren't a fable. I have no obligation whatsoever to some overgrown, bible thumping kid to prove these people exist.

As for me hounding you, that was entirely necessary given your daft little insistence on replying to half of everybodys post, ignoring the other half, then diverting back to that half or changing on to something completely different further down the line when things don't go your way. Do you think I am the only person to have noticed this? People have to hound you. You practically have to beat a decent debate out of you.

Not only that, but I was not hounding you for facts and figures you couldn't possibly give me, was I? No. I was hounding you for your opinion on a picture after you commented on said picture, so your comparison - and boy do you love comparing things - is null and void.

My answer to this post would be, this post!

Nuff' said.

BB_Eye 03-03-2010 10:22 AM

I love mornings on TiBB.

pinkmichk 03-03-2010 10:32 AM

for starters how can art and poetry be in the same bracket? secondly this is much like the music tastes discussion each and every person will see things different etc just cos you dont like it doesnt mean its crap or unappealing to others

Stu 03-03-2010 10:37 AM

Don't you consider poetry a form of art? Art isn't just paintings. Music can be art. Great cinema can be art.

pinkmichk 03-03-2010 10:46 AM

i do but they arent in the same bracket you dont go to gallerys just to read poems they are art forms in their own right but while similar in that aspect they are very very different

Stu 03-03-2010 10:49 AM

True. I guess LT finds 99% of modern poetry crap too?
