What is your motivation for defending her anyway LT, do you not like gay people either?

So where does the buck stop, LT? Should Christians have the right, based on religious belief, to refuse people all sorts of services? Should a Christian, if he saw fit, refuse me entry to a gig because I was a non believer? Is it okay for a Christian to refuse to let an unmarried couple with a kid into a theme park?
Also, plenty of scientists believe genetics have an important role to play in a persons sexuality also. You say there is no proof beyond reasonable doubt that people are gay as a right of birth, but the vice versa also applies. It's funny how you demand scientific proof for certain things, but it doesn't matter for others . |

The Mail called her a Christian but she was only quoted as saying "against her convictions" - ie I think she just thought I dont want 2 old men bumming each other on my laundry bill. re the science thing. I am not asking for proof just stating what we currently know. As stated in the other thread using Science to disprove religion is not valid. |

Besides, wasn't it called The Christian Inn or something :conf:. Personally I believe the 'science cannot disprove religion' argument is complete farce but that's another argument for another thread. Like the one you set up that I posted in ... |
"The Mail called her a Christian "

LT I think the word you were looking for reference the religion thing is bigotry, you can be a bigot without being illegal, and judging by reports not only in the mail but elsewhere it definately looks as if she was discriminatory on the grounds of their sexuality, which unfortunately for her is illegal.
She owns and runs a small business, it is wise when doing so not only to be aware of the law and how it applies to her business but also to have a standard excuse prepared for when you refuse customers who turn up and offend your sensibilities. e.g. she could have said, without looking outraged, "I am really sorry but it appears as if you have been double booked, we only realised when the other people turned up and booked in, could I arrange alternate accomodation in another guest house etc, at no extra charge" etc. Whilst it isnt an offence to be stupid, it is an offence to be discriminatory and ignorant enough to make statements to others including the police and the press stating that yes you do discriminate against same sex couples sharing the same bed. Hoisted on her own petard methinks. |

A Bigot, that was the fella I was after. I very much doubt that she will be prosecuted by anyone. She was silly not to use a better excuse I grant you. Death in the family would have been my choice, that or Vampire convention. |
