You can't just lay the blame squarely at the feet of the media. It doesn't work that way. They probably still sold well and it's doubtful that the paper in question got any kind of negative feedback from that particular issue.

The one thing that annoys me the most about England Football Team is that England manager Fabio Capello isnt even English. Sorry if this sounds unfair but a English person should manage the England football team.

Z 10-06-2010 07:26 PM

Because the English football team, and the fans of it, don't shut up about themselves. There are plenty of posts in this thread that highlight that effectively.

Claymores 10-06-2010 07:26 PM

This is going nowhere - you know we hate your team, not personally

USA USA USA

Nothing to be gained further

And that is why I view the game as an absoloute joke. It's even worse with club football where you are essentialy just buying into a logo. Players can jump sides at the sight of the money. Nothing matters. It's so disingenuine.

It should have got Positive feedback if anything one of the best headlines of the year, We all know it's going to be easy but no one will admit it

I'm not soley blaming the media, I'm just saying that not all England fans are that cocky and think our games are going to be easy and we're a shoo in the make the finals. I hate the way the papers big us up and then slaughter the players when we don't do well and I'm well aware that it gives people who hate England already even more ammo to throw. Of course those papers still sell well, but it doesn't mean the people reading them agree 100% with all that is printed.

You are cheering for a miracle that just ain't going to happen... the group stage is already wrapped up.. a few Rooney goals a couple from Gerrard 1 or 2 from Lampard and Cole maybe a header from Crouch

Last 16 here we come :)

Chels 10-06-2010 07:32 PM

What if the shoe was on the other foot, and if England didn't make the World Cup and Wales did, like ***** would you support us. You'd do the same as what we do.

And what pisses me off about England is that the team, the fans and the English media all seem to think you got it in the bag and act as if you're the best team in the world when you're not - there's about 10 better teams than you. And you always overrated your chances and you orgasm over it everytime!

But alot do or they wouldn't be endlessly printing that kinda rubbish, you know? They've been doing it for years on end without a word of caution from the public.

Novo 10-06-2010 07:33 PM

Come on guys

just admit.. England will destroy that group..

Gerrard hasn't been at the races all season, Lampard will be tired -old man, you know, and Rooney will be just bolloxed or injury prone. There may be trouble ahead......

Well I can't speak for everyone but I would support Wales, Scotland or Ireland if they made it and we didn't.

And not all the fans think we've got it in the bag either, I for one will actually be amazed if we make the final let alone win, doesn't mean I'm not going to be extremely vocal in my support though! There's always people that take it to the extreme but most people are actually more realistic I think and it's more wishful thinking and getting behind the team!

There is no trouble ahead at all

we might as well use defoe and heskey up front in the group games and rest rooney for the big gun's later on

I probably would support Wales, or Scotland but probably not Ireland if they're gonna be all bitchy and not join the UK

And I pretty much agree with the second paragraph

In my opinion I will only have respect for Fabio if he manages the Itailan football team. Boy it annoys me having a non Englash person as our maneger. Particly the football freaks who overate him and in the press.

See I'm not cocky about it like you are  I have more concerns about the team than confidence at the moment tbh, but I hope you're right!
