So Steve is an exhibitionist. He's probably just waiting for the first person with a scar fetish to show up.

Kitty, get in there.

There's a huge difference in those things you mentioned and a scar like Steve's. Scars are very hard/impossible to cover up and you're stuck with them for life, so you have to learn to love them, or end up hiding yourself away for the rest of your life and cause great mental distress to yourself. Why should someone have to do that just because to some small minded, shallow people it may cause offence?

You mean shallow minded people like you don't want to. Don't speak for everyone.

But Steve doesn't feel that way - and why should he? It is a few others wanting him to cover up - not him! Why should he care what they think?

So in your world, people that suffer terrible injuries through no fault of their own and have to live with scars that are near on impossible to cover, should cover themselves from head to toe or never leave the house? My god I'm glad I don't think like you.

BB_Eye 24-06-2010 09:37 PM

Look at it this way. This is the sort of person who feels proud of his scars.

Well you're obviously insecure about them then, and Steve obviously is not. Each to their own.

Wow, what a small-minded thing to say.

Then again, what else can we expect from a troll? :)

I feel like I'm better off talking to a brick wall at this point. Steve has nothing to be ashamed of, I bet if you did a poll on here right now and asked how many people are offended by his scar, more people would answer no than yes, as would most of the viewing public. Only a small minority would be fickle and shallow enough to be bothered by a bloody scar! Jesus.

Sounds like you're suggesting Steve should be ashamed of his!

Everyone has an opinion. Chuff me dizzy I respect yours - that's how you choose to live your life, and tbh I couldn't be bothered one way or the other.

Here's the point: it's Steve's choice whether he covers up the scar or not. Just because you think it's "self pride" doesn't mean he should have to hide part of who he is, or even have to think about concealing his scar. He's not asking for attention, pity, or praise. He's just being himself.

So let's all move on.

setanta 24-06-2010 09:49 PM

Off topic, the man has a fair set of arms on him. Wouldn't like to mess about with him.... he'd still kick the shi&e outta me, and that's with no legs. And no, he has nothing to be ashamed about.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one

If you want to get on with your life, why distinguish yourself in such a way (in Steve's case, wearing a revealing top) that every everybody will notice what happened to you?

setanta 24-06-2010 09:53 PM

It's all relative really. I mean for you or I we may feel the urge to hide our scar, but it's small fry really to a man who has lost his legs. Let him wear whatever the feck he wants, that's what I say.
