no we don't need another Gaga thread just yet thanks. Although Ill be the first to start one when she next fails.

and it all ties in quite nicely seeing that her videos are all about her weird imagery.

Stu 28-02-2011 11:12 PM

I'll start the next thread about her dropping down the charts. We are going to have to work out some rotation system and each take turns at doing it.

Zippy 28-02-2011 11:25 PM

Funny how she goes on about people being accepted for who they are and what they look like. But does she ever use realistic examples? Do you see fat ugly people in her videos? No. Because they don't look cool enough.

Instead she goes looking on the internet for Rick Genest who has deliberately transformed himself into a tattooed freak. Hardly a good example of somebody born this way!

Full of BS. Her ideology is heavily slanted towards what is cool. Not what is right. If the imagery doesnt fit then she aint interested. Freaks are kinda cool, fat people are not.

I disagree, if you dislike criticism of Gaga then tough, it's his right and prerogative to criticise her if he so wants. Especially when it's about an artist whose image is vital to her success and forms a central part of her videos. It's on topic for him to comment on her image.

Beastie 01-03-2011 02:24 AM

Gaga looks hot in this video. Hot body.

Hopefully this video will boost her chances of getting to number 1 in the UK.

I think you are right about this. Anyway I am not some obsessed Gaga fan. I just think "Born this way" is a decent pop song. Well a song that will do well in the clubs! lol

When did she say she was the mother of tolerance too? :conf2:

Yes, she did, granted but surely you agree that telephone was a more light hearted video, far more colourful and had a snippet of comedy in it. Compared to this video set in the dark and with her giving birth to god knows what.

I can't remember exactly what she said, it was in the into something about mother of new race, a race of tolerance and that doesnt care about anything.

Awful, Lady Gaga has plummeted, and only the obesessive fans (MichaelSpears), will support anything and everything she does.

Worst single, worst music video.

Totally.

It is SO fucked up that she is trying to promote equal rights for the gay community.

How dare she.

But it's true - that is what she is doing and she gets bashed for it. Why? Because this time around she isn't promoting fat rights.

People will always pick out negative things, even if the things she is doing are obviously good and for equal rights.

InOne 01-03-2011 11:25 AM

By the way she goes on you'd think gays were getting stoned in the streets or something :joker:

Gay people still do not have the same rights that straight people have, that's the point.

And in some countries, gays will get stoned in the streets.

Scarlett. 01-03-2011 11:28 AM

She could try promoting gay rights without spreading her legs though, just a thought

Is she REALLY aiming at those people? I mean come on. Maybe she should go over there if she cares so much :bored: You know very well she sells to closet middle class teens and that is all she is interested in

Stu 01-03-2011 11:29 AM

I guess we better all stop critizing her. We don't want to look like homophobes, do we. Theres nothing wrong with sticking up for gay rights. You know ... by using all the batshit insane looking, overdressed, 'freak' gays for your music videos as if they were some chic stage prop.

M X 01-03-2011 11:32 AM

I'm not saying you are homophobic if you dislike her, you've just made that up, like you make these things about her up.

The point of the video is that this race of humanity bares no prejudice, no judgement, nothing but love, and that's what we as the human race should be. I really don't understand why it is so wrong for her to do that? People are such dicks.

Yeah I really got that from watching the video as well. That's the clear message of those visuals.

Christ you will eat up anything won't you. You are completely devoid of independent thought. It's laughable. And yes you are stopping people from having an opinion on this. You're still doing it even now. Saying this video is such an ode to equality that nobody can dare criticize it because who on earth would have a problem with equality.

It's like saying the film Milk with Sean Penn shouldn't have been permitted to be reviewed by critics because after all it's about gay rights. What sort of evil bastard could find a problem with that?

It's actually quite clear from those visuals, considering she says it as the beginning.

It's not like saying that at all! Where have you gotten that from? Fair enough, you don't like the video, but it's when people criticize her for standing up for gay rights, I don't get it. But as soon as I point that out you twist it into something completely different so that it looks like you didn't do it.

Shaun 01-03-2011 12:09 PM

If anything this has just had the wrong impact - the use of 'chola' and 'orient' is questionable by someone who's a very well-off white girl from a comfortable background.

Z 01-03-2011 03:20 PM

IDK if it's like a regional thing or what, but I'd genuinely no idea that the term Orient had racist connotations, it's not a taboo word to me but I've had this conversation with you (Shaun) before, strange... Anyway I think the video is very self indulgent and really doesn't work with the song, they're both about the same sort of message but almost as if from two different views; the song itself is this campy disco number and the video's this assorted menagerie of weird and they both sing praises for being equal and blah blah blah... I still only like Telephone by her, I've never understood the massive hype.

I don't care if you disagree, the thread is to discuss the music video, not take irrelevant quotes from random interviews and dissect them, if he wants to do that, he can go make another thread.

Tom4784 01-03-2011 03:38 PM

She's about as geniune as the unicorn she rides in the video. It's all marketing and her fans eat it up because they think she's some messiah figure that's introduced the world to homosexuals and the struggle they face. She's pandering to her market, nothing more and it's foolish to believe all the stunts are anything more then that.

You misunderstand, I was saying that as a mod. You can't trample all over his opinion because you don't like it. and the fact he was talking about image was relevant to the topic. He can say what he likes as long as it's not against the rules and is on topic and you're in no position to dictate otherwise.

I wasn't trampling over his opinion :conf2: This thread is full of mixed opinions and I'm not bothered because everyone's entitled to one. My point was he took a quote from an interview where she's not even talking about the video, nor is she really talking about her image, it's just he decided to make it about her image and dissect it.

It's more to do with the fact you told him to ***** off, I was going to go for an infraction on that but opted for a fair warning instead.
