Apols to any Aberdonians offended! Of the East-Coasters I'd gladly say Fife is worse and disgusting!!!!!!!! (I did not include Weegieland there Josy!)

well, only one of my cousins has a proper Scottish accent cos they lived in France for years before that so the older ones have a non de-script accent:joker:

Let's be honest: regardless of where you come from: there are areas that people speak properly - and will have a more refined accent - and other areas within the same cities, those who have been brought up to use the local venacular, local slang, mispronunciations - which add to the 'chav / weegie / ned' sound. Doesn't matter if it's Scotland, Ireland, Wales or England - it's applies all the same.

Yeah, that's true, even the county I live in has a handful of different accents, like you could tell if someone was from the Northside or Southside of the city or if they were from the country

Mixed bag me..... originally from Coatbridge - spent many years abroad, now back in North Lanarkshire. I'm told by English friends and work colleagues that I have a posher accent than some from the same area - probably due to being abroad for so many years.

Like Josy, when i hear myself via recordings or watching back presentations, vids etc: I think I sound ned-ish - yet others say I have a strong accent but it's not rough sounding (if that makes sense!!). I still think it's not soft enough!

But it is using things in appropriate social situations I was trying to describe Pyramid - in workplace, I speak 'posh' and 'proper' - in a sh*thole in Methil for the football I speak badmouth. Difficult to make the switchover!

I'm never sure if that makes me a situation "*****" that I can do it?

It sure does!

I talk the same regardless of my surroundings. If people don't like it they can go and take a running jump! :)

Karly was pure Methilhill - EXCELLENT that a 'normal' person got in the house - pure housing estate - then my ears hurt to hear her voice on TV because we are not so used to extreme regional accents on the tele!

That's like somebody saying they dislike the English accent! Look at how many regional variations there are!

You can't compare the likes of an Edinburgh accent with an Aberdonian one.. And I'm really sorry if there is any shee.. Aberdonians here, but to me they ARE one of the worst!

All Scottish seem the same to me.
