Anyway... I suppose it could be worse, it could of been someone who was ugly and knew nothing.

I am calmer, believe me.

I go through mood swings though, I'll be lovely tomorrow again and will probably look back on this thread later tomorrow morning and face palm myself and apologize - maybe.

Glenn, I've always liked you and that - but for this one time, I'm going to have to ask you to be silent.

Take the American Idol finalists. Imagine Cheryl's comments...

This one is failing worse than the US one.... great one for simon he killed both shows.

Marsh. 15-05-2011 12:18 AM

This is great. Simon taking over TV here and across the pond. Then in what swipe he wipes the empire out. Woohoo, let's get back to good television.

Fox have already done a massacre on a lot of their shows to make several slots available for this steaming pile.

I'll probably end up giving it a watch though, lol. But definitely won't bother with the UK one. They've been killing it with the live audience auditions as it is.

Deirdre 15-05-2011 12:35 AM

Danni was always the best judge imo.
But what would N-Dubz know about music? :conf2:

Awful, I liked Dannii and I can't believe they replaced her with THAT.

joeysteele 15-05-2011 08:51 AM

Dannii will be missed greatly, I liked her straight talking and how she contrasted positives with the negatives of a performance, she knew what she was talking about and kept to the point too.

Oh my god. I am not a fan of N Dubz but I love her. Love her voice and she seems very opinionated but with the talent to back it up ;) I am thrilled she is a new judge.

I have watched some of that N Dubz in America and that's quite good! lol

Sad to see Dannii go though. Suppose it was only a matter of time. I love Dannii though. Hope she is successful in other projects she does.

So Tulisa, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh are judges? Are they just having 3 or will there be another girl?

Beastie 15-05-2011 09:52 AM

Anyway will be better than Cheryl anyway. And her "you smashed it" comments.

Beastie 15-05-2011 10:01 AM

However I did prefer Pop Idol/Popstars the rivals a lot more. There was a sense of innocence to it all. And wasn't all about the judges. Still excited for this new judge lineup. The last 2 series Chezza and even Simon became irrelevant. Licking each others arses. Chezza will become a laughing stock in USA.

At least Tulisa can sing..

because she didnt know a certain EJ track from 1972 that proves she has no knowledge of music? yeah right.

The oldie judges often don't have a clue about modern day or recent artists. I'd say thats far more of a worry considering theyre actually trying to find a CURRENT artist. Theyre not searching for a 70s tribute act.

Jords 15-05-2011 12:01 PM

Gutted about Danni but cant wait to see Tulisa as a judge!!!

THANK you. Well put.

And that's why Louis is there - he balances out the older demographic, as well as being the 'comedy judge' with his facial expressions and mad comparisons. But we don't need two oldies on the show.

MTVN 15-05-2011 12:56 PM

I like Tulisa but I dunno if she'd be that good a judge/mentor

Is it actually confirmed that she's taking over though? The BBC article just says "There has been media speculation that Louis Walsh will return to the UK judging panel and Lily Allen, Gary Barlow, Melanie B, Ozzy Osbourne and Tulisa Contostavlos, from the band N-Dubz, have all also been linked to the show."

I refer you to my other post.

It's important a judge has a good understanding about a range of music.

The Elton John reference was an example that she knows very little outside of autotuned pop.

This will become more noticeable in the USA when she is faced with a broader range of music which is very popular over there and rarely seen here.

It wasn't that she should know everything, but she knows extremely little outside of Girls Aloud's genre of music.
Take the current American Idol finalists, country singers and imagine Cheryl coaching them.

how do you know? Anyways all judges have their musical preferences. Just because youre not into country doesnt mean you can't still choose a song that suits their voice. Sometimes its good to take them outside the box.

Your logic applies to all judges on all talent shows. They could all be considered unsuitable to mentor or judge certain genres of music. But its not always relevant.
