what is the mr clean image?

i have never seen giggs do some cheesy family advert on tele

what has he pretended to be and give some examples

maybe that is just the perception the public put on him but confused it with being a role model professional ON THE PITCH which is what he is, was and always will be

off the pitch many footballers stray for some reason or another

Omah 27-05-2011 02:45 PM

Giggs has been featured in adverts for Reebok, Sovil Titus, Citizen Watches, Givenchy, Fuji, Patek Phillipe, Quorn Burgers, ITV Digital and Celcom.

I doubt that Quorn Burgers would want to be associated with a lying, cheating womaniser ..... :joker:

Grimnir 27-05-2011 02:52 PM

in any of those adverts was he promoting himself as a family man in a cheesy way?

or was he just doing an advert for money like many other footballers and celebrities

doing an advert doesn't make you mr clean unless he did a detergent advert

Ryan Giggs: celebrity or commodity?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...y-or-commodity

Quote:

The argument is that the money Ryan Giggs makes from product endorsement relies on the image of himself he projects, an image that is a marketed commodity in itself, and therefore not private. But it's more complicated than that. Lots of other people make money from Giggs and his like, flogging their products not on their intrinsic value, but because Giggs says they're good. Not a superb reason to buy something, but there you go.

But lots of people behind the scenes – not only newspaper owners – have made profits from Giggs, and his image. The whole business of turning the actual or perceived personalities of individuals into commodities is a deeply worrying aspect of consumer capitalism. The issue of whether product-endorsing celebrities should or should not have private lives is in part a debate about how much information markets should have access to, in order to "decide".
Interesting ..... ;)

Sports people get sponsorships based on their abilities rather than their family life. From same Wiki article it says,
Quote:

Giggs has said that he deliberately shunned the media fuss. "Nothing could have prepared me for the limelight I was thrust into at 17," said Giggs. "I was in newspapers, magazines, on TV, and everyone in the street knew me. It was strange for me and I dealt with it by trying not to create a fuss. I've just tried to keep it that way ever since."

At the height of his celebrity, Giggs' relationships caused him to change his media approach. Giggs has spoken about this decided shift away from publicity —- a route he seemed destined to take as celebrity pin up —- as occurring sometime in the mid 1990s.

"The high-profile relationship I had with the TV presenter Dani Behr was the turning point for me", said Giggs. "Before I knew it, we were being photographed outside my house and cameramen followed us everywhere. It was very uncomfortable. At that point I decided the celebrity lifestyle wasn't for me. Around that time I felt my commercial work was affecting my work, too. I thought 'no, football is my bread and butter. It has to, and always will, come first'", he told the Daily Mirror

My shameful eight-year affair with Ryan Giggs, by his brother's wife

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...hers-wife.html
Quote:

Ryan Giggs was accused yesterday of an eight-year affair with his brother’s wife as the fall-out from his ill-fated gagging order became ever more damaging.

The Manchester United star, formerly regarded as the model professional and committed family man, found his reputation further sullied by tawdry details of the relationship with his 28-year-old sister-in-law Natasha.

He had been cheating on his wife Stacey with her before she began dating his younger brother Rhodri, a Sunday newspaper claimed.

It said Giggs slept with Natasha the day after his eight-year-old daughter was born, and again the day after the arrival of his four-year-old son. The affair was alleged to have continued until April 9.

To underline 37-year-old Giggs’s folly in taking out his notorious injunction over an alleged fling with former Big Brother housemate Imogen Thomas, his sister-in-law said it was this which spurred her to break her silence.
I suspect that Stacey will not be happy for looking like fool for 8 years ..... :laugh2:

joeysteele 05-06-2011 11:48 PM

He has really been a fool, that's for sure,in his personal life at any rate. I can never condone cheating on a husband/wife.

Probably still won't get half the backlash Terry did though..

Terry was into S&M ?

:conf:

Well at the time, when Terry's came out he was Captain of England, Giggs is not as high profile as that but I agree there's no difference in cheating of any kind.

Yeah that was probably partly why, and there's also the fact that Terry & Bridge were team mates

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 06-06-2011 12:32 AM

whatta lowlife.

What's the wife gonna do? I bet she's going to stay. People wonder why footballers always seem to support eachother when whoever is going through bad press that week...it's because they all do it. They pick up chics together. anyways, i couldn't care less. Just as long as imogen stops her woe is me routine. At least I admire that ryan is trying to keep it private. she's all over. now she's written on twitter I want to die or something. bitch puhlease. if you really want to why is twitter the place to right it, at least text a real friend. JUST GO AWAY

RYAN GIGGS’s sex scandals could cost him most of his £34million fortune.

Footballer Ryan Giggs, equal 20th in the latest Sunday Times Sport Rich List, would lose at least half his worth in any divorce settlement.

He must now also be considering hanging up his boots in what would almost certainly have been his last season at Manchester United.

If he retired now he’d miss out on another £2.4million in club wages next season.

But whether he stays or goes he still faces losing a host of lucrative sponsorship deals. For two decades some of the world’s biggest brands have battled to secure his endorsement as football’s Mr Clean family man.

But those companies will almost certainly consider pulling the plug following the latest revelations about his private life.
I bet he wishes he's never heard the word "injunction" now ..... :joker:

He might have got away with his "indiscretion" with one "camp-follower" but using his sister-in-law for sex over a period of several years of married life has certainly put an end to that possibility .....

Giggs 'affair with brother's wife Natasha' sees him branded "dirty dog"

http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/...#ixzz1OUOfmTpj

Quote:

Giggs’ disgusted aunt Joanna Wilson stormed: “He’s just a dirty dog.” Joanna, sister of Ryan and Rhodri’s father Danny Wilson, said: “He has no morals. It was one thing having an affair with Imogen, but this is said to be with his brother’s wife, for God’s sake.”

Speaking at her home in Ely, Cardiff, she added: “I could almost understand if it was someone else, another footballer’s wife – then so what? But not with his own sister-in-law. And it went on for such a long time. It is horrendous and we are all gutted for Rhodri.”

Joanna, 49, said she also felt sorry for dad-of-two Giggs’ unsuspecting wife Stacey, 32, saying: “She should kick his a*** and take him for every single penny he’s got.”
I gotta agree .....

Meh. I think it would be really hard to find a footballer who doesnt cheat tbh. I think its the lifestyle they have, its easy to get away with, so they do it. Just a few are unfortunate enough to get caught.

Rhodri Giggs emerges from marital home after 'dumping his wife'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...=feeds-newsxml

Quote:

Ryan Giggs' brother Rhodri has emerged from his marital home after it was claimed he had split from his wife Natasha following claims of her having an affair with his footballer sibling.

Rhodri, 34, looked tired and stressed as he left the property in Bolton alongside close friend Will Mellor. And, significantly, Rhodri's ring finger was bare, with no sign of the wedding band he wore up until recently.

It is believed Rhodri and Mellor spent the afternoon with the Giggs' brothers' mother.

Rhodri is said to be 'devastated' over the reported eight-year relationship, and has now apparently ended his marriage, telling The Sun: 'I was with her on Saturday but I'm not with her now.'

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 06-06-2011 06:29 PM

I don't know how anyone can do that to their siblings. its more sad than disgusting. feel sorry for the brother his trust system must be shaken quite profoundly.i could never imagine my sis doing that to me or me to her! if her bf made a pass at me i would be absolutely devastated for her because i would have to tell her and she would be devastated. giggs what kind of monster are you :bawling: and that stupid imogen aiming to keep relevant in the story by saying she wants to kill herself. puhlease at what point did you REALLY think you and ryan would ride off into the sunset? if she wasn't parading herself everywhere i woulda believed her more

Mystery third woman claims she bedded the Manchester United ace

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-sto...#ixzz1OXrGKgz6
Quote:

RYAN Giggs’ sister-in-law spoke out over their alleged eight-year affair after a THIRD woman claimed she too was having a fling with the Man United star.

Natasha Giggs, 28, confessed to a friend and husband Rhodri, 34, after the mystery girl told her: “You’re not the only one who’s been sleeping with Ryan.”

She was left shell-shocked after a phone call from the woman last week – and told the friend she realised she had just been used by the 37-year-old player.

Natasha is said to have sobbed to her pal: “My life is in ruins. It’s only just beginning to sink in. What have I done?”
Blimey ..... how many more ?

Giggs brothers 'rowed over claims'

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/ne...#ixzz1OZiHu7cB

Quote:

Ryan Giggs and his brother reportedly had a furious telephone row over claims that the soccer star had an affair with his sister-in-law.

The Manchester United veteran phoned Rhodri, 34, and said allegations that he slept with his younger brother's wife Natasha were untrue, the Sun reports.

But her father Phil Reade told newspaper: "Rhodri is not going to take Natasha back. I feel for Rhodri, I really do, because he's been a real gent as far as Natasha is concerned.

"I've tried to speak to Rhodri but he hasn't replied to any of my messages yet. I can only assume it's because he's too upset."
Unsurprisingly .....
