This is NOT an American phenomenon. Ask Norway.

Yes it is.

The Nazi in Norway was a one off.

America is a Gun Nation.

No it's not. I think i know more than you about this. I've lived in America for 30 years. How long have you lived in America? Don't tell me about America. If you want to know about America then ask me.

Norway was not a one off incident. Europe has had tons of these same types of attacks. Africa, South America, Asia also have these same types of attacks. Educate yourself. There is nothing American about this phenomenon.

Obviously anything that happens in the US gets more news coverage than anywhere else because the US has the largest media in the world, but proportion of media coverage doesn't mean it only happens here.

There's no way to prevent this type of thing, sometimes people just snap. They just lose control.

Unless you have airport style security at every place where there are large groups of people there's nothing you can do. Every cinema, every grocery store, every mall, every post office, every school. It would be impossible.

It's just like cars. You just have to accept that there are going to be drunk drivers that kill people sometimes. You can make all the laws you like, but people are still gonna die sometimes.

I never said it was okay, obviously, so i don't know why you responded that way. i'm just saying that no matter what laws you make, it won't prevent this type of thing. People are trying to politicize it and capitalize on a tragedy for their own agenda.

I never thought I'd see the day, but I totally agree with you. Someone on my Twitter feed retweeted something along the lines of "oh and they say gay marriage is killing America." Totally separate issue and has nothing to do with the actions of a lone, crazed individual. Not every gun owner is a mass murderer waiting to happen. The fact they even said that the day it happened made me really angry - it's a tragedy and should be treated as such - let the gun law debates begin after a period of mourning, surely, it's just disrespectful. People politicising a tragedy just hours after it happened ought to be ashamed of themselves, IMO.

Ithinkiloveyoutoo 21-07-2012 12:12 PM

Sigh so sad. I don't know why people do this. I think I read somewhere they think he has a mental illness.Ffs why are they diagnosing all mass murderers as mentally ill?! That monster that gunned down kids at a camp was also cited as mentally ill?

Nope they are just evil plain and simple! Otherwise let's diagnose suicide bombers as mentally ill aswell.

R.I.P to all those that died :(

King Gizzard 21-07-2012 03:18 PM

Most mass murderers if not all are mentally ill

BBfanUSA 21-07-2012 04:39 PM

Thank god the death penalty is in Colorado. Though I bet that the media will cover this like crazy and this'll turn into sensational journalism as in he gets nothing for killing 12 people and hurting 50+ others.

There is no way in hell they'll revamp the gun laws. As it's been said before.

from FoxNewsHD Live

The Police Chief has confirmed a 100 bullet magazine
was found on the floor - it appears it jammed
that permitted many to avoid the killer.

Also his flat front door was open
with loud tecno music going (at the time of his attack)
with trip wire to set of the bombs,
So it appears he wanted the other Flat
owners to walk in and blow the block up.

Of course the police have got into his flat now
they used water to sink the main bomb trigger, in.
His Computers have been removed.

Tomorrow the Evil Killer appears in court
for a short time.

Living life in a cell - probably being beaten up/multiple people trying to kill him > Letting him get out easy with death by injection

Crimes of that caliber would not result in a cell with someone else. That would be a high security ward where there is little to no contact with anyone but guards. It took years before inmates had a chance to kill Jeffrey Dahmer.

He probably won't get death, anyway - he'll end up in some hospital for the criminally insane. Just like they're still arguing about the schizophrenic who tried to assassinate a congresswoman last year.

Ninastar 22-07-2012 06:56 PM

this is truly terrible. I haven't really read anything about this until now, and wow, it's such a shame.

I feel so sorry for the families.

Reading that twitter is depressing.

Yep it was very good. It felt extremely long, and it felt quite political.

In a way I'm glad I got to see it before I learned of this.
