I saw an interesting documentary about how the english language is dying because of slang. They took several cros sections from the US and analyzed language. Sampled Chicanos from Cali, Arizona and new mexico and ebonic samples from the north , New York, Pennsylvania etc.
Basically, The mexicans have mixed english and spanish to form practically an entire new language and the ebonics from the hood has become so popular and trendsetting that you even hear hollywood using it and even white conservatives... which sounds pathetic in them, not belivable at all. I hate when non hood peole talk hood, just doesnt make sense. |

To be fair, they're all one hit wonders, big heads, dying for attention and their careers are over.

Not this nonsense again :(.
Accent has absolutely nothing to do with skin colour. If you're born in a particular region (or have lived there long enough) and hang out with people who have that regional accent, you'll pick up that regional accent. It's that simple. I'm guessing this guy is from Inner City London or Croydon, born and bred there and has hung around with people who speak 'Jafaican' (Multicultural London English, an accent that consists of West Indian toned down by remnants of Cockney). There are plenty of black people with traditional, working class Cockney accents and plenty of whites who speak 'Jafaican' so that argument simply doesn't work. To say otherwise - and even go on to call him a 'twat' because of his accent - would be ignorance I can only compare to thinking Canada is a small town in South Yorkshire. |

In fact, all your posts on this thread have been so ill-informed that you sound more uneducated than you think these people you're describing do. |

It's horrendous. |

I've encountered loads of blacks who have Cockney accents and whites who speak 'Jafaican'. Different people have different accents. Smart people don't take to it automatically. Saying 'how cum I can tell blacks speaking on the radio' is not empirical evidence at all to speak for an entire race. Entirely anecdotal. As for the 'it's horrendous' bit: so? I personally like the accents and find them quite colourful. It's all down to subjectivity and personal taste as to whether you like these accents but they are London accents. What if I said I don't like Cockney accents? Does that mean that I'd be absolutely justified and incisive in saying that they're not proper London accents? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicu...London_English http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...ns-422688.html http://dialectblog.com/2011/11/03/mu...ral-london-oo/ |

Sorry that goes against your theory. |

Are you saying I'm wrong for some reason? |

What you're wrong in is ascribing that accent towards all black people and I went on to counteract your ridiculous argument that usually only blacks talk like that by using my personal experience and actually substantiating my opinions with actual facts and statistics. I'm yet to see what justification you have for your argument, other than your own personal experience. |

I'm not saying all blacks talk like that. I'm just saying that when I hear someone talk like that, he's usually black. What's wrong with that, innit? |
