I really can't believe people are saying they'd save their pet over another human, I'd like to think that if they were actually in the situation they'd change there mind.

Nope, goodbye.

I don't believe that. Imagine if your sister drowned and you found out after that there was someone there who could have saved her but they decided to save their dog instead, would you think Oh I understand that, I would have done the same or would you be mad as hell?

Marc 27-02-2013 09:38 AM

Oh I understand, I would have done the same.

Well that's your opinion. This is just a hypothetical though in the situation who knows...
Read once of a guy who jumped in to save his dog and he drowned... the dog paddled to the side and lived, knowing my luck that would happen to me haha.

Yes it absolutely is my opinion and I'd hope that most people would agree with me especially if one of my loved ones needed saving lol ........

Me. I Am Salman 27-02-2013 10:16 AM

The funny thing is most people who are barging on about animals lives being equally valuable to humans' are probably meat eaters.

In-group versus out-group.

Hypothetical for Niamh - a week before this scenario takes place there is a fire at your house and one of your children is trapped inside, The dog runs in and pulls him out. Does that change your decision?

What does this have to do with anything? It was the introduction of cooked meat into our diets that aided the growth of our brains. Meat has played a huge part in our evolution.

LemonJam 27-02-2013 10:56 AM

Wow... well I wasn't expecting that result.

I'd choose the person without a doubt.

Ammi 27-02-2013 10:57 AM

..I don't think I would ever save an animal's life over a humans...

joeysteele 27-02-2013 12:43 PM

I haven't voted in the poll because I don't take the view that my Dog is better than a human.
I would obviously try my total best to save anyone or any pet in a life threatening situation, in this hypothetical poser since it is specifically my pet at risk of losing its life then I would definitely set out to save him first.
Hopefully I may have a chance to save the person too but as Kizzy said earlier, I would have made my choice and would have to live with that.

I also know though that my Dog would likely be the one to get help for me if I was in difficulty.
I absolutely adore him and wouldn't let anyone hurt him, let alone leave him to die if I had a chance to save him myself.

Eurgh why do some people have this inherent feeling of superiority just because they're people

That's a good find Jesus, I actually haven't heard that song before, I like it.

Munchkins 27-02-2013 02:49 PM

Oh and Salman that point is idiotic tbh, its different eating meat, as you dont have an emotional atttachment to that animal you're consuming, plus the animals you are eating most likely wont be the type of domesticated pets you own, so its different
