By definition, this is dehumanization.

Just because it's not the worst example of it, does not mean that it's irrelevant. There are plenty of malnourished children in the UK, for example. Pointing out that "there are children in Africa who get less" doesn't mean that those UK children are not malnourished.

There's been loads of them over the years.

With way worse treatment.

She'll get boo'd. Then go on to further her modelling career in the UK.

Even if BB did 'promote' this 'bullying' how would any normal person be swayed and think it is right to tell people to die. What absolute sensationalist bollcocks.

You're missing the point entirely. It shouldn't be in jest, but they see it that way. Singling people out for entertainment SHOULDN'T be normal but it's increasingly being seen that way by kids because of how it's shown in the mainstream media. Big Brother this year is using it as entertainment and little things like that all across the media, all adding up, lead kids to the sort of mindset where it's OK to torment someone for fun. It's a game, it's not real, until suddenly someone gets hurt. And then no one's entertained any more, all of a sudden.

It's not sensationalist at all. I have my fiancée's teenage sister on FaceBook and this stuff goes on all of the time. Namecalling, threats, ganging-up... it's all totally normal to young teens today. Think about WHY it's become normal and you'll realise that situations like this years' BB are a big part of the problem. Just tune into BOTS and look at their wide eyes and grinning faces as Gina and Hazel tear lumps out of each other because of a task set by BB.

I am at a loss for words with this series of BB, just when you think it can't get any worse, just when you think it has scraped the bottom of the barrel lo and behold they sink even lower with a spot of organised public bullying.

FFS only this week a young girl committed suicide due to cyber bullying and yet here we have BB putting it on television for entertainment.

I'm Speechless......!!!!!!!!!

Agree 100%,they are a disgrace, and all the people getting "enjoyment" from this should be ashamed of themselves!!:nono:

Im not a fan of Hazel but I feel uncomfortable watching whats happening with Hazel now, that tells me its wrong. There has to be a line somewhere

To suggest people are horrible to each other because of the media is terrible. Cavemen used to beat each other up, surely they were influenced by Big Brother? Everybody is nasty at some point in their lives and while I do agree violent video games, films and TV shows will effect SOME people, the vast majority of people who enjoy upsetting people wouldn't be any nicer if tonight's BB wasn't aired.

A major TV show is singling someone out to be ridiculed and laughed at and practically encouraging a viciousness in the online community to brand her as this, that and whatever. It's "troll culture" maid mainstream by a well known TV show. When this **** is going on, how can we expect young people NOT to be bullying each other online like that poor girl was?? Everything around them is telling them that it's OK / fun / hilarious to demonize and attack someone in the name of entertainment.

What was nearly as bad as the show, was the reveling of the BBBOTS muppets in the bullying, basically saying Hazel deserved it!?!:nono:

Hazel went to the D.R and BB gave her a spray because her sinuses were causing her a bad head ache but she lost it.

jackc1806 08-08-2013 11:41 PM

Bullying existed before TV. While somethings are influenced by the media, being nasty isn't one of them.

Not really. It just backs up the comments that she made in todays argument.

It was throughout a pick on Hazel highlights by Gina aided by hang dog expressioned face Charlie.

Not nice to watch at times, not bullying but a bit out of order and a bit too much for my liking too.

Morning gunge, eating weird things, who is the snake, popularity line-up, and now this? They try to get away with it by saying "it's all down to the public!" but when they set these things up they know EXACTLY how they're going to pan out. It really is sick. It's a heartless, once-rich, now-floundering company essentially torturing a girl to improve their ratings. The more the public bays for her blood, the better for them. They're like a Roman emperor in their box seat it the Colosseum, sending out the lions to rip someone to shreds for the entertainment of the crowd.

^Sound observation.
Thats exactly why I made this thread: It's NOT about being "anti-Gina" (though goodness knows, I find her utterly repellent).
Its a message to the producers to let them know that we see whats going on and that their bullying in the name of "entertainment" won't allowed to continue with impunity!

^Yes it is. Its a "reality" TV show. And the reality here is that someone is being bullied.
Does the fact that we're seeing it on TV make it less real to you?

CaudleHalbard 08-08-2013 11:57 PM

Never mind. Hazel had less than 24 hours to go in the house. She should have gone long ago.

I doubt she feels someone like Gina is even capable of bullying her and would probably be quite insulted by this thread.

It's quite funny how you asked anyone who saw it as bullying to sign up and leave a message, and yet you got a load of people disagreeing that it was bullying! Debate is good, but I don't think you meant it as a discussion thread!?! Many years ago,if someone asked you to sign a petition to free Nelson Mandela, would you sign it and then write down your argument as to why he should be kept in prison!?!:conf:

Cocidius 08-08-2013 11:59 PM

That word slays me. She is not being Bullied. If she would do what she was told it would have went smoothly. You know since "Hazel gives 100% to task". Hahaha I hope Hazel stays for pure entertainment.

I'm sure Hazel is well able to handle Gina, but the point is bullying is being condoned, and presented as entertainment!!:nono:
