Right, here's my take on her and the situation.
I don't watch Geordie Shore...never have done, and don't really have any intention to (at the minute anyway), but I have an understanding of what the show is about and it doesn't bother me in the slightest, nor can I understand why it would bother anybody else? First of all it's tucked away on a subscription channel at like 10pm so what happens on the show is hardly being broadcast on BBC1 at 7pm...
But I want to make this clear. All of the people on Geordie Shore are paid to do what they do, and as it's a scripted reality show...they are, for the most part, told what to do, because effectively they're playing characters and being paid to do so. In which case I have a big issue with some members on here thinking it's 'hilarious' for Carol, who is a fifty-something year old woman, to get trashed on a mainstream TV channel when she's not being paid to do that (and is just being paid to go into the house, what she does in there is her own choice)...yet if Charlotte does the same thing on a subscription channel where she is being paid to get absolutely battered she's a 'common tramp'? That is ageist, there's no disputing that I'm afraid. I've no issue with Carol or Charlotte getting trashed, they can act as they wish and I found Carol's drunken behaviour the other night hilarious...but it's not one rule for one person and another for someone else. Either you think they're both terrible (not sure why would you would but that's a separate debate entirely) or you think they're both hilarious.
Now...on a different note, why is sexual promiscuity looked down upon so much? This really pisses me off, especially because of the latent sexism that often comes from it too, as if guys decide to sleep around they're suchalad but if a girl dares to engage in the same behaviour she's a 'slut', '*****', 'slag'...I mean these are just warped, stereotypical and sexist beliefs. I'm really not sure why it's something that's looked down upon...if someone that's single wishes to sleep with lots of other single people for whatever reason...why does that concern you? Basically...it doesn't, it's none of your business and quite frankly it makes no difference to their character. If they were sleeping with people that were in relationships then sure, there's a problem...but if everyone involved is single? Then...um...live and let live and keep your judgemental, outdated thoughts to yourself.
Having said that Charlotte is in a relationship and as StupidHoe has already explained seeing as she watches the show (hello, surely we should listen to a viewer over anyone else?) that the 'I want cock in every orifice' was a joke...and quite frankly without even having to watch Geordie Shore when that clip appeared in her launch night VT it was quite obvious she was joking, she has a crude sense of humour...surely that's blindingly obvious? Not that there's anything wrong with that either, plenty of comedians make a living off the back of crude sense of humours...Julian Clary...former CBB winner anyone?
As for the pissing herself/faking being drunk thing, I wasn't really sure whether I believed Carol at first because let's face it, they all have agents and as she's known as a character on Geordie Shore that is paid to get off her face every night, she's got a duty in her agents eyes to live up to that persona, which if it is the case is quite saddening really...though of course I guess if she didn't like doing it she'd just quit the show. The most important thing to me is that she doesn't seem like a nasty person so all of this bile that's been spouted about her (based upon her actions in a scripted reality show that barely anyone that's commenting negatively about her seems to have seen) appears to be really unwarranted to me. She seems a nice girl and if she does have to play up to this 'pissed girl' act, then well that's just that I'm afraid...
If it wasn't an act however and after she wet the bed I think it's difficult to argue that it was, then um...lots of people have wet themselves when intoxicated, you don't have a lot of control over your bladder when you reach a certain point of drinking a lot of alcohol. Yes it's not very nice but ffs it's embarrassing enough as it is for the person so I don't think taking the piss out of her is very nice, do you? And before someone inevitably comes here and says 'well she thinks it's hilarious and boasts about it', I've two replies; firstly that's a character that she has to live out in the public eye as I've already explained, and secondly if it isn't, do you not think that it could be a defence mechanism to cover her embarrassment about a potential bladder problem that she has? It's not different to like falling over and laughing it off to hide your embarrassment, it's pretty much the same concept.
I really wish people would:
A) Either drop the double standards, Carol can't be 'hilarious' and Charlotte a 'tramp' when they're both doing the same thing
B) Drop the unnecessary bile that's being spewed about the place, I'd be less bothered if she was actually this evil bitch but clearly she's not
C) Understand that she is either having to portray a character that she's known as and paid for or has a genuine problem that shouldn't be mocked
