Update on Besler, He just signed a new 6 year deal with SKC today, makes him a DP for SKC.
Zusi Also did today, another 6 year, DP as well for SKC. (Surprisingly he wasn't before) |
NYRB-Arsenal about to start,
Could be the last time we see Henry play Arsenal. |
After Landon Donovan scored in the AS game against Bayern Munich (MLS won 2-1)
He has announced he's retiring at the end of the year/season from club and country. |
Portland and Seattle, The best derby MLS has to offer is on BT Sport right now.
|
Jermaine Jones on 4.7m at NE Revs
loool |
Revs is such a random team too.
Unless the Patriots owners actually care about the team now all of the sudden. PS Seattle won 4-2. 3 points atop the west. |
I thought Galaxy and Chivas was the best rivalry, that's the only one I ever really hear about anyway
|
Nah, over the last couple of years Seattle and Portland have replaced that since they have Rabid Fanbases. Chivas USA was so poorly mismanaged that they were just sold back to the MLS and the MLS is looking for a buyer. Seriously look up a recent game, Chivas shares LA's Stadium and they tarp over one area when LA doesn't have to.
Also I'm being serious. Both Chicago Fire and New England Revolution (They need a new fricking badge) wanted Jermaine Jones so it came down to a blind draw..... Okay, first you make Toronto go down the Allocation draft list when they picked up Bradley as a DP when you didn't make Seattle do that when they picked up Dempsey. Now this stuff? Couldn't you just refer to that instead of this blind draw thing? What The hell. |

Sky Sports are going to be carrying a couple games this year,
All-Star game, Playoffs are included I think. There is a threat of a players' strike because the players and the league are having a disagreement over free agency right now. Which should've been added a long time ago |
Great news, the players have agreed to a new 5 year CBA.
Season starts on Friday with LA Galaxy hosting Chicago Fire. The two new clubs play on Sunday against each other, New York City FC at Orlando City SC, game is sold out and will have 60,000 attending the match |
I'm pretty excited for this to begin again.. the league continues to grow. It's a shame we won't see Lamps and Stevie over there for a while though. Theres also rumours about NY City signing up Xavi as well at the end of the season, they'd have a ridiculous side.
NYC vs Orlando should be great, i have no idea who i'll be rooting for from now on that Thierry has left. |
Excellent, sky will be showing NYC - Orlando followed by Kansas - NY Red Bulls
|
Some changes to the broadcast teams,
Fox is replacing NBC, before you freak out. Gus Johnson is not going to become the new voice of soccer. John Stone, who did NBC's MLS PBP will be the PBP guy for Fox. Great American Voice, was excellent last year. Especially during the Portland/Seattle derby games Also Alexi Lalas has moved over to Fox as well. he was the ESPN pundit who's a ginger. Red Bulls also lost Cahill this offseason. |
OCSC and NYCFC is about to start.
Unfortunately my cable provider doesn't want me watching the game since it says that it's lost the signal to ESPN2 |
|
Has Halsti (Finnish MF) been doing well? I think he plays for DC United.
|
The season just started so IDK.
The first game was decent from what I saw...how was the Sky Sports coverage? I noticed they used a different scorebox bug than the US broadcast. The US version had a little thing indicating how many subs a side had. The Sounders/Revs game is on after SKC/RB game. It's been a good game so far. |
Coverage was pretty much routine.. they didnt have a studio or anything it was just the commentators talking. We had Alan Curbishley as a co commentator though who has got to be the most boring man on this earth.
|
Oh god, that sounds awful.
I didn't know that Volkswagon's sponsorship deal was up. But Audi's GOOOOOL campaign is pretty clever. Supposedly the biggest sponsorship deal in MLS' history. The last game for the first round is happening right now. Seattle is up 2 (Dempsey PK 25', Martins 41')-0 to the Revs, Last season's MLS Cup final losers. Donovan is now an analyst too by the way for Fox Sports 1 overhere. He did make an appearance on the Spanish broadcast for the Friday game and did a interview completely in spanish. Don Garber announced that there's going to be more expansion news coming in the next 45-60 days on the US NYCFC-OCSC broadcast. |
US numbers for NYCFC and OCSC match, 539,000.
Better than usual numbers for the regular season. The game on Univision Deportes on Friday had 371,000, alot of them to be non-Hispanics and includes the English Simulcast. |
Jesus is that it? For a huge country with a growing sport i would have expected it to be so much higher than that. Our FA cup game last night had 8.9 million people watching.
|
It got more than FA cup coverage here.
I think MLS has this stigma of not being high caliber attached to it. The consistent start times should help though with national games. (Each club has a local deal with local channels) |
CONCACAF Champ League Final 1st Leg is happening right now,
Montreal Impact is facing Mexico's Club America The game is in Mexico's famous Azteca Stadium. Current scoreline is 1-0 Montreal. Stunning |
Seems like Kolo is going to be joining New York Red Bulls. Looks like MLS will be good to watch after this summer.
