I don't think gay bars implement segregation, but instead are just a specific type of brand? It's quite harmless really.

Like other people have said, gay people can go into other bars and straight people can go into gay bars?

Sure but it will only take around 30 years here

I get where you're coming from but I think it's just a bit of a niche in the same way that there are rock bars where moshers would go or cocktail bars where pretty girls in short dresses would go... it's just a place that you can go if that's where you feel most comfortable. I think it's good that they exist. I think it would be better if there was more variety, so it's not just "this is the gay bar where all gay people go" but I think that sort of exists anyway, I know quite a few art school-esque gay guys who, funnily enough, go to art school sorts of venues and they manage to meet people there, that's where they feel most comfortable. I think it's important to have a space where you feel safe and you feel in your element in, in terms of night life.

Don't see what the problem with them is... haven't been to one myself but there are loads of different nightclubs and gay ones are just one type? It's not like straight people are barred for life.

..my son went to one recently with a friend of his who had just 'come out' as gay...maybe they are good for people who have just come out..?..

Also, my heterosexual best friend has a 100% pulling record in gay bars, he met his last girlfriend in one  it's not just for gay people, it's just a place where gay people can be open and not have to be wary like they might be elsewhere

Might have more luck getting girls in gay clubs with all the LADZ being too scared to go in
