Obviously I'm not against contributing towards the forum through donations, I just think the whole "VIP" thing is tacky. I feel the same way towards the sad-acts who pay a bit extra so they can sit behind a rope in a nightclub, thinking they're amazing because they got a free bottle of piss to drink.

Maybe under a different name, or no name at all, it'd be fine, but I see no reason why someone who's paying a bit would be called "very important" whilst everyone else is just evil leeches using it for free.

Members would be a bit pointless if there was no forum  if James wasn't here to keep the forum running and Mark wasn't funding it there wouldn't be a forum.

And no one said there's a problem with the funding that's you jumping to conclusions again.

Interesting that some of the yes votes going on the what do you do for a job poll actually have no job so parents will be paying!:joker:

You want students to spend their loans on upkeeping your forum?

Some students have a part time job, or get a bursary/grant or get help from parents. I don't see why how they will be paying for it would make any difference - it's just £2. :/

no forum, no members, I would never of guessed that josy.
there you go again, bringing james up!, no one is saying james does not do a great job, but the funding for this site is a small amount, is it not?

Exactly. Its a suggestion and people are discussing it, I think some are over reacting a bit tbh.

this, people need to calm down. This is why i said for the good of the forum, no, we shouldn't pay for anything. If people are reacting like this over the idea, just imagine if it went into force lol

It wouldn't cost that much though, probably only £1 or £2 I guess?

Jessica. 03-05-2014 08:22 PM

Someone made a suggestion that would aid the upkeep of the forum and add a possible novelty aspect that would award them without affecting anyone else. If you don't like it then nobody is forcing you to say it's a great idea, but basically trolling in this thread is not going to make people respect your opinion.

Side note: I agree with Shaun in what he said about the phrase "VIP", maybe the people who donate could be called a "contributor" and get an award with a related icon or something, along with the other perks, or nothing if they want to be an "anonymous contributor".

Jordan. 03-05-2014 08:26 PM

Bye at people moaning and objecting to it, it's not like you'd be forced.
