Oh joy. As if this thread couldn't get more tragic (not meaning you kate, I mean how its ended up :p ) now its gunna turn into a benefit thread. Only need a bit of 'rarrr muslims' and we should be able to wrap this up.

Dont call me ignorant thats a personal attack ,it seems you dont know as much as you wish you did

Seems your problem with people on anti anxiety meds is because of someone you know on invalidity..who happens to be cheating the system. Because of this you seem to have an irrational dislike for meds that help a LOT of people. I may be wrong, but your post about the person you know who is 'putting on' her depression came across much like that...

You couldnt be further from the truth Vicky

Vicky. 11-05-2014 08:09 PM

In that case, what was the point in mentioning the invalidity and such and that she acts sad when her medical comes round?

Oh in some case they are amazing ,but one of the easiest ways of getting onto invalidity is bad back or depression, the number of folk around where I live who are on top money because they claim depression is obscene ,even my SIL has been on top money for years claiming shes depressed, when she goes for medical she turns on the tears, never fails, if you NEED them (as some do ) then thats different ,but not everyone does, unlike diabetics who must have insulin

Kate will be delighted she started this thread, it's been such a help.

Tom4784 11-05-2014 08:10 PM

A Muslim once described my performance as Laertes is the classic shakespearean play 'Hamlet' as an 'unforgivable wooden tragedy'.

Hopefully reading through it will send her to sleep tonight without need for the meds. Everybody wins :amazed:

I don't think Chuff has an issue with people taking Meds tbh Vicky.

Me and chuff get on well outside the forum and she is well aware that I use SSRI's and has never taken issue with it. If she has seen people claiming ESA for mental health issues that they are in fact lying about I'm sure she would have reservations about 'some' people.

Marsh. 11-05-2014 08:13 PM

But what's it got to do with the thread?

.

I do apologise to Redway and Kate if my comments caused any offence. Personally I have to be forced to take a paracetomol, and it would be my worst nightmare to have to take regular meds, I would go out of my way to find an alternative therapy if it were available.

Same here tbh. I take codeine but its not something I have to take all of the time, only when my ribs flare up. Can't imagine being dependent on anything. Docs would have had me hooked on antidepressants a few years back though if I let them..despite them not working for me at all they insisted I keep taking them at a high dose too :umm2:

Benjamin 11-05-2014 08:16 PM

kate just do smack instead

That was kinda my point even though I may not have put it across well, pills seem to be handed out like smarties by some GPs and are not always necessary.

Vicky. 11-05-2014 08:23 PM

Yup..unfortunately pills are the easy (and probably cheaper) option a lot of the time rather than tailoring help to people.

mizzy25 11-05-2014 09:29 PM

Oh dearie me. Let me translate. You mean me Chuff! Quelle surprise. :idc:

FYI. I have a genuine need for anxiety medication, it's trial and error getting the balance right as I have depression and GAD. (Generalised anxiety disorder).

I don't want pity, I was looking for any comments from people who had been/are in similar positions. Of which there are many from what I've read both here and in other threads at one time or another. Anyway, I had another severe episode this afternoon, hence I've not been on the forum all day to catch up with this.

Managed to see on call doc, apparently they think I'm getting too much serotonin so my meds are being reviewed tomorrow. This is the third time lol, hopefully we'll get it right soon please God! I take an SSRI (fluoxetine) and Buspar for anxiety attacks. 5 capsules a day, they are going to try reducing it slightly.

Hoping for a decent sleep tonight.

Marsh. 11-05-2014 10:00 PM

Some people just like focussing on the negative, ignore it.
