Wasn't she over-exaggerating with the 14 warnings?

Jake. 10-06-2014 10:51 PM

If two prisoners escape from prison, one female and another male, and they both threaten to stab another person, would one be taken less seriously?

Daniel. 10-06-2014 10:53 PM

Helen isn't my fave though, I just think it was such a throwaway comment that meant nothing really. As I said, Aisleyne said it about Grace in BB7 and Makosi threeatened to slap Orlaith in BB6 and they are two of the most loved housemates??

MTVN 10-06-2014 10:53 PM

I don't see why it being said in the heat of moment makes it better really, if anything it makes it more serious because you're more likely to follow through with threats in the heat of the moment. Never did defend what Conor said but that was just a stupid rap which was clearly ridiculous and he was just trying to show off to the others

MeMyselfAndI 10-06-2014 10:54 PM

Stop trying to justify what Conor said ffs

Not really because he admitted he was angry in the diary room later. Nothing but scum, really.

This tbh

Also Helen is quite like a bloke anyway. The way she speaks and behaves at least

(I am aware that that in itself is a sexist/stereotyping comment :idc: )

Just like Helen was angry? Really don't see what you're getting at. Conor's rant was disgusting but that doesn't justify what Helen said.

Not really. I'd say the majority of people come out with "I'll kill her" "I could knock her out" and other similar sayings when angry or confronted. That doesn't make someone violent.

Is Helen has a tendency to get violent then it's a different story but simply coming out with a phrase like that isn't enough really.

How did I do that, or how was my comment any more of a justification than any of the comments made in defence of Helen. There's a massive difference between explaining something and justifying it, don't think anyone is trying to justify Helen's comment either but they are trying to explain it. Both were stupid things to say and that should be acknowledged but in different situations; Helen's as part of a raging row where she wouldn't have been thinking that clearly, Conor's as part of a group bitching session where he obviously took it too far in trying to show off to the others

I was just replying to MTVN's post about Conor.

With Helen, it was a throwaway comment, a few words and that's that, I just don't see the big deal. she shouldn't have said it but I really don't think it was that bad.

I don't get the Conor comparisons. What he said was actually disturbing. The manner in which he said it was far different. Deana was being octracized that entire episode when she did nothing wrong, and it felt extremely uncomfortable to watch.

What Helen said on the other hand was a throwaway comment after an argument with Danielle where both gave as good as they got. Still, I agree it was out of line for her to say but it's tame in comparison to Conor's threats. I'm far more of a fan of Danielle so this is in no way a biased opinion.

Nope, you could tell he genuinely had a problem with Deana and couldn't bear to even look at her face

Vicky. 10-06-2014 11:19 PM

I don't think this is comparable to Conor btw at all. I barely watched that series but I did watch that bit and he was just replusive.

I know that, a lot of them did and he sort of assumed the head of the Insiders so always sought to outdo everyone else in the bitching which all came to a head with that rap (again that's not me trying to justify it). I don't really like comparisons like this because they make out two things are exactly the same only by isolating them from their completely different contexts, so really I don't think Conor is relevant at all tbh

Fish_Fingers 11-06-2014 01:16 AM

So now we can add threats of physical violence to Helen's collection of vulgar behaviours. What a sterling example she's setting for her son. He's going to be mighty proud of her in the future, that's for sure.

Marsh. 11-06-2014 01:22 AM

People say all sorts in an argument. Bringing her kid into it is out of order.

I'm sure he'll be very proud of her, who are you to assess what kind of mother she is? Do you have cameras installed in her house that you watch her on 24/7? I made this point in another thread but no matter who you support, the way housemates act in a constructed and hyperreal environment on a television shows bears no relevance whatsoever as to what they're like as parents, friends, family members and it's disgusting to bring it up to criticise them. So unnecessary

Fish_Fingers 11-06-2014 02:03 AM

Ok, point taken. I will not bring family members into any further criticisms I make of HMs.

jyunga 11-06-2014 02:05 AM

Did no one go to school on here? Comments like this happened daily in high school for me and never amounted to anything. It's just trash talk.

..great housemate to an extent Joe..I think for the moment and as she's probably relaxed in knowing she's going to be there the whole time and so being part of lots of 'dramas' etc, it's a great start to the series and creates lots to talk about..with others as well, she's not the only one but she's the only one that has a guaranteed place so in a way has less to lose sort of thing by her behaviour...but for me, tthat has a very short entertainment value as I think a constantly conflicting house is equally as tedious as a 'quiet' house ..you get to the point where you're kind of 'immune' to being entertained by it if it's all you see of that person and there is no balance of interest to their character..well I do anyway...

Someone with some sense on this forum for a change - not sure some people here live in the real world or ever leave their bubble.
People say things like this all the time (myself included) they never have or would. I guarantee Helen never would its just a way of expressing how you feel. I've already said I'd knock Danielle out about 100 times and I'm only having to watch the moron - but I'd never dream of actually doing it
