Maybe it's just because I'm used to running it and therefore am picking up on trends and recurring habits but I do feel that members will routinely vote a group of friends they absolutely already had prior to the series started and new posters rarely get a look in.

So yeah, I will be establishing a "vote 3 new people" rule from next week... obviously those who have a problem with this can either just:

a) vote 3 people one week, and another 3 the next, and just flip between these because they're sad
b) take it up with a therapist or something

I mean, there are hundreds of BB posters, I'm not asking miracles. Just widen the net and give other people a chance.

With full respect that is a bit off,sad and needing a therapist.
People vote to try to get people through, how can rules and goalposts be moved midway through an event.
Personally, I think you are wrong to do that but it is your game and your right I guess but I think that will be to the detriment of the event and lead to less taking part.

Shaun 28-06-2014 12:04 AM

Because people shouldn't be voting to "get people through" at all, that's just voting tactically :umm2: it should just be a fair representation of that week's worth of forum activity.

Who needs you to?

I am sticking my oar in as joey voted for me and you seem to have taken exception to that for some reason.

Why is everything always about you, Kizzy? Get over yourself. I have no issue with Joey or him voting you; it's when people vote the same 3/4 friends over and over again in a sheer bid of desperation of trying to win.

:shocked:We are asked to vote to get people to win weeks who have made full and good contributions to the forum over recent week or weeks.

What does anyone go through for then if it's not to get people through.
Now I really am confused even more,so we don't vote to get people through who we think have been the best contributors to the forum.

What with the fullest respect is the point of voting then at all.

I'm not baiting shaun, This 'fun thread' tibb nominations just got more rules and regulations that the European court of human rights all of a sudden.

Actually if you read back I was replying to Shaun, no mention of joey on my part. So again Kizzy get over yourself and stop thinking everything is about you, you're not that special.

Well that's the thing, you're not voting to make sure people win, you're supposed to be voting to give people recognition on the forum. It's just a bit... repetitive? And also - and I know you're not responsible for this Joey - given this competition's history with people being asked to vote for one member, it feels like there're campaigns to get members through rather than this competition just flowing by naturally and whatever happens, happens.

It's gotten to the stage where it all feels a bit forced and tactical.

Jack_ 28-06-2014 12:22 AM

I guess the voting people through thing is tactical yeah, I hadn't thought of that, but what about the argument someone put forward that it may just be the case that the same one or two (I suppose three is pushing it) people were the best contributors two weeks in a row? I know some people will exploit it and just vote for their friends but what about the people who genuinely think they were the best posters of the week again?

Jack_ 28-06-2014 12:23 AM

Also why are people trying to make out this reasonable discussion of an issue has some kind of cynical undertone  just stop

Shaun 28-06-2014 12:26 AM

Well I guess, but I think there are clearly more than just 2 or 3 members deserving of a nomination in a week  Like in that instance, I would just say "open your eyes", really. I actually toss around 10-15 names in a week... I tend to give BB15's forum a quick glance-over to see who stands out, and if there're any notable TiBB events (like the world cup threads, or a forum game, or whatever) I might give them attention. But there're so many possible members to choose and usually at the end of a round I've got a list of only twenty who've picked up votes. It's a bit sad, really (and not sad as in 'pathetic' as I implied earlier, which by the way I apologise for. I got snappy.)

I don't think I have yet seen a set of votes, and there haven't been that many sets of votes this time round, where the people voted for haven't made a good and full contribution to the forum overall.

I see no problem with it as it was going.

I took issue because the 'friends' comments and 'changing one nom a week' comment was made immediately after my latest set of noms.
I have rarely voted for Jords in this event, I have this time round for instance.

You said it right, have it flowing naturally and what happens, happens.
Trying to manipulate and dictate how votes should be made by installing new rules now when it is up and running will far from have it flowing naturally,in fact it will do the opposite in my view.

It is however your game, so when old rules, or proposed new ones from next week are in place, it is then for members themselves to decide for themselves after that if it is worth them bothering to vote at all, if they are not then able to vote how and for who they would wish to.

Ahem, back on topic....

Who is She? - I've agreed with a LOT of her posts this series of BB.
InOne - Very funny.
Ammi - So friendly, fair and funny.

But it's so obvious certain people just stick to voting their friends in a bid to win each week. Once or twice is fine but they do it all the bloody time.

I haven't come across that way have I? If I have it's probably due to the fact that I think of the ones that I get on best with on here first.

Thank you very much Josy and Shaun, please retract my earlier post as to the week I went through and my votes for this event from now.

I will stick with this event for this series of BB and then wait and see if the 'rules' change for future series.

I have probably overreacted but the comments as to voting for friends and changing one nom a week only followed my recent list of votes I noticed.

I vote for people who have, in my view, made a full and good contribution to the forum,if however 'artificial voting' and therefore 'artificial results are what is wanted in this event in the future then it will not be for me.'

However as far as I can see, I have voted in accordance fully with your rules and all the opening post on the event too.

If people are asked to take part in such an event, they have to have the right to make their own choices and minds up for themselves not be dictated how to vote or even who for.
It is their votes after all. That is just my opinion.

You deserved it and i'm very glad you won.

Locke. 28-06-2014 04:34 AM

Have you won yet Vanessa? You should win

Vanessa 28-06-2014 04:36 AM

No, but i don't mind. I never win anything anyway.

Mystic Mock 28-06-2014 04:47 AM

You're at the finals though Vanessa.

Am i ? I didn't even know. :blush2:
