Then surely the issue is with the people who see individuals as representative of a whole group of society rather than a separate person of their own, regardless of whether they're putting on an act or not. Straight people can act up too.

Same could be applied to most straight celebs. And just to clarify, people like Rylan and most media portrayals of gays are fine and not stereotypical?

As a person, many people view him as a complete dick, so its just not amazing tv, its cringe tv

Ninastar 16-01-2015 11:10 PM

We aren't going to agree on this so I'm just going to leave it and play on GTA

Good night!

Never judge a WHOLE community based on one person's actions/words. Every human being is different.

We're the same person then?

Tbh Michelle was coming off quite homophobic in that discussion in the Diary Room tbh, and the best part was that Calum was watching her crash & burn with every comment that she made.

Just Michelle going for the low-blow out of frustration. Nobody can get Perez to change his social conduct in the house so Michelle is trying to make him feel guilty by using her position as a drag-queen judge as if that somehow makes her protector of the gays. Remember her talking about how the contestants on that show were her children and she had to help them grow? I guess she thinks her show is somehow representative of all gay culture and therefore gay people are weak and need her help. Not impressed at all.

Oh nice post. I was chatting to a gay friend today about her outburst and he said, "How dare she think its okay to speak on my behalf as though I need her protection...F-ck her. He's not acting like a deranged queer, he's acting like a deranged person and his sexuality has nothing to do with this".

Chuckyegg 17-01-2015 06:51 PM

there isn't really a gay community
just like there isn't really a ginger community
or a disabled community
perez does not represent me, he represents nobody

Semantics. I have heard it countless times from gay people.

While I agree with the above comments that one person does not represent a whole group of people. However, the most ignorant of bigots will see Perez's behaviour and claim that all gay people are like that and unfortunately people who have never met an openly gay person in real life will believe this and spread homophobia.

What he is doing is dangerous, and he needs to realise that he could damage a community.

I have gay friends. Just friends to me who are gay. Some use community some don't. Does it matter? To you it does not, but others it does. Human nature i guess.

What she said was an over reaction-no one is stupid enough to think perez represents a whole diverse range of people, hes been hated for many years, i dont think there is any group of people perez fits into, hes like a universe unto himself hes so...bazaar lol

But Kavana's gay yet he hasn't done anything in the house to make any of the public think that “all gay people are this way” Michelle jumped on the wrong thing, it was a bad game move.
