I think it's more based on taste though, they like those bands so they want others to like them, same goes for everyone. No one is going to say a band/singer they hate is underrated..

But obviously my argument doesn't mean I immediately think all black/other ethnic artists are good - I just noticed that certain white artists are immediately regarded as great and unbeatable and then other ethnic artists are disregarded, but ethnic artists can be trash too obvs.

Nobody's mentioned Nicki. It's when people suggest that Heidi Montag and Kim Kardashian are better musicians than the Beatles and Kate Bush that things begin to get a little ridiculous.

(also this is all to do with musical taste and nothing to do with race so I don't know why that's been brought up in the first place)

That was never suggested AT ALL - the thread was meant to state who you felt is underrated and overrated - Kim Kardashian being my underrated was obviously a joke when she isn't even an artist:laugh: - it was never suggested artists who were underrated were better than overrated ones. I don't think anybody would try to say Kim Kardashian was better than the Beatles...

I have never liked Kate Bush, my mum does and I have sat through her music and I like neither her songs or her voice - would I laugh at those who do? nope because I believe that my opinion is not universal and what somebody enjoys is very subjective.

Say what you will about Paris but I like her and I like her first album a lot and tbh I'm not gonna pretend I don't to pander to popular opinion.
