Indeed. The point I'm trying to make here though is alot of times when people complain about double standards and reverse sexism, they automatically blame women for that when in reality alot of these attitudes and double standards are there because of men themselves

omg kyle, i never said that or was thinking it at all :/ You're taking this waaaaaay too personally when your comment just made me think of a wider and pretty common attitude amongst alot of men. It doesn't mean that they should never be fathers, I was just saying that maybe it should be thought about a bit more

Fair enough Nimah I apologise.

Btw I know I misspelt your name there but I didn't want to edit the original post to change it in case you thought I might have said something else and then changed it.

Am I the only one that really doesn't give a crap about these types of stories, male or female? Like, yeah, obviously she's broken the law and abused her position of power, and yes there are a lot of double standards dependent on the sex of the individuals involved and it should be equal, but in all honesty...do I think it's that bad? Not really.

People who are on the cusp of 16 having consensual sex with someone older, is IMO, not much of a problem. Obviously the younger you get and the less consensual it is, the more of an issue it becomes, but my reaction to stories like these is usually '' I know someone will inevitably point out you can't legally consent to sex until you're 16, but if we stop looking at it in legal terms and in...well...reality, if someone isn't being forced into it, and is almost 16, it's consensual. Age is only a number

And when stories of this ilk emerge and the person involved is 16/17, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it at all. And I really never get the hysteria over that. I can understand minors, but when you're over 16...well...sorry, that's their business and no one else's. It's a bit like that story of the 16 year old girl and the 30 year old teacher that ran off to France a few years ago, and people were calling for him to be slaughtered etc, and it's like well no, she's of age, it's clearly not just a sex thing and they actually have feelings for each other, so whatever

This is not paedophillia either.

But I think you don't want to hear that and actually have an intelligent discussion about it. Come back to me if you ever do though.

come back to me if you've ever got anything remotely intelligent or compassionate or unbiased to say...no? didn't think so

Prove it.

Because as I've just referenced, I felt exactly the same when the story about the 30 year old male teacher and 16 year old girl emerged

Actually, I did a search and it turns out it wasn't legal at all. The girl was 15, but the pair began their affair when she was 14. Read my two posts on this page:

Not at all, I 'm speaking about the attitudes of people towards this abuse, you can clearly see the only people making light of it in this thread alone are men, all the women who posted were disgusted by it, hell truth even your very own first post in here was one making a joke about it, dear oh dear

I think you've touched on a good point though Niamh, the mentality of "oh!! he should have enjoyed it!!" is an attitude spread around by men themselves and this whole 'lad culture', which really doesn't help to solve the issue of women getting let off lighter for paedophilia when it should be equal punishments to both genders.

"Two months of abuse by Caroline Berriman left boy 'scarred for life' "

LOL! Yeah right

You'll love the comments on here then

Despite what I posted earlier, one comment I saw that said something along the lines of 'of course it would be different if it were a male teacher with a female student! Guys and girls are not the same' is a stretch too far for me :umm2:
