In public, I think it's gross and not needed. same goes for women. On a beach or holiday destination, go for it.

but isn't the beach a public place?

Firewire 30-09-2015 07:25 PM

It's strange on a public street. It's fine in parks and gardens and beaches.

Yeah, it is. But it's different because a beach is for swimming, a town centre is not. If you go swimming, you want to wear less clothes because you're more likely to drown if you wear a lot of clothes. Plus you also go to the beach to sunbathe, so then there's also no point of wearing no shirt.

By 'in public' (town centres, stores, restaurants etc) I think everyone, no matter what gender, should have dignity and respect for others by covering up. Wear a vest. Its not that much different than being topless.

JoshBB 30-09-2015 07:26 PM

They can do what they want, women should be able to go shirtless too.

oh I get what you mean, I do think you have to be covered up in a restaurant but i think it's fine to do it other places. I only do it on holiday but only because to catch the sun on my body because lying down isn't for me

And they shouldn't be. I'm all for a boob being out because a woman needs to breastfeed her child, but I don't think that just because a man is allowed to go around topless, a woman should too. Im one of the minority that think womens boobs are a lot more sexual than mens nipples. Yes, the main purpose of female boobies is to breastfeed, but theres a lot more you can do with them than that.

I understand that people fight for equality, but I think in this case, men and women are completely different and I don't know many women who would actually want to walk around a public place topless, other than to prove a point or for attention.

Again though, at a beach, I think a woman being topless is totally okay. Just not in public places.

& unless we tackle the stigma aimed towards female nipples it won't change

I honestly think that if you were used to seeing women walking around topless then it wouldn't be an issue.. just like it's not unusual to see men walking around topless (but obviously it depends where you are )

Why do you assume I have a problem with it?

Liam- 30-09-2015 07:34 PM

Everyone should wear enough clothes to be decent in public places, unless the place they're in calls for less clothing to be worn, i.e; the beach or a swimming pool, I don't want to be walking past lush brushing shoulders with topless sweaty folk thanks.

Doesn't bother me at all but I work in a farm shop and in the summer a chav came into the coffee shop without a shirt on and I found that odd, he had quite a good body and tattoos and me and another girl agreed it was an ego thing...The air con was on

Josy 30-09-2015 07:50 PM

I couldn't care less, it's their choice to do what they want.

None of us were born wearing clothes btw.
