Some of the people on that Klingon ship look like Remans, wonder if they are, or if they're just more of these new Klingons?

Scarlett. 18-05-2017 12:19 AM

CBS has confirmed that these are indeed Klingons, though given when this takes place the Klingon's foreheads should be like human ones, unless these are (and they have been rumored to be) Ancient Klingons

I reckon Discovery will be something of a soft reboot that will let newer viewers get into it easily, especially given that outside America, it's gonna be on Netflix, which should be a big draw.

Unsurprisingly, Trekkies are mad about a number of stuff, mostly about the show not looking like its straight out of the 60s (which is silly anyway, given both ST: Enterprise and the Kelvin both looked more advanced than the TOS Enterprise)

James 20-05-2017 10:19 PM

Yeah, and the look of Trek changed a lot with the original films compared to the 60s series eg. Klingons, Enterprise.

TV shows can't be judged through trailers anyway, even less so than films because with TV you find out what a show is like by watching the first episode, or the first few.

Scarlett. 20-05-2017 10:36 PM

Yep, and I think so far they've only fully filmed a few episodes, so there's limited footage for the show still

Nicky91 29-05-2017 10:56 AM

is there any more news on this :)

Scarlett. 29-05-2017 03:26 PM

Not just yet, there should be in the coming months though.

Scarlett. 19-06-2017 09:02 PM

Lots of info will be coming out of Comic con this weekend.

I like the ship design. Is that definitely the one they're using ?

The Klingon looks great too.

I just hope the writing is good.

Scarlett. 22-07-2017 12:43 PM

Yep, it's the final design, the inner disc on the saucer is a weird design, but I like it, makes the ship look more unique.

The Klingon stuff is nothing short of amazing, I wasn't the biggest fan of the redesign, but looking at it now, it looks quite interesting. I don't think they'll be the usual Klingons we see throughout the franchise.

Apparently Johnathan Frakes (TNG's Riker) has been directing an episode!

They've done some good work on the visual effects since the last trailer.

In comparison to the Shenzhou

I like that the Discovery is noticably brighter.

The bridge of the Discovery, also...

Quote:

Discovery budget is now $8 to $8.5 million per episode, instead of the originally slated $6 to $7 million.
Season 2 has been set out already and they've begun planning season 3.
CBS Network, Showtime, Amazon and Netflix all wanted the show.
This year, Showtime and All Access has already hit the 4 million subscriber target set for 2020. Although Showtime is expected to be a big boost.
Fuller was months over the script deadlines.
Discovery is shot as movie, each scene is taken with care. In TV, its standard to just move on once you've got the shot however in movies the keep shooting until its how the director visions it.
If there was not a delay, we would not have Martin-Green as Burnham.
